Wonder what the parents were doing with all of this.  Clearly there were warning signs.

The internet.  So much disgusting stuff out there.  Without it this kid very likely  doesn’t do what he does.
i read earlier that the parents are cooperating with police. there was a warning sign in june 2021 when the shooter threatened to do voilent acts at a high school graduation. he was sent for a mental health evaluation but i guess he passed that and was released.

it isn't just the internet. tucker carlson endorses the replacement theory, as to actually sitting members of congress.

we have an information crisis in the country, in the sense that too many people are being fed bs conspiracy theories and outright lies and when confronted with the truth they simply refuse to believe it. we are in dangerous territory in this country.

if the past is any predictor, this kind of thing will happen again and again and again.
Yup… just turn on Fox News for all the replacement theory you need.

There are no dots to connect, it’s all done out in the open.

What this nation needs and particularly in Tejas is more guns and fewer restrictions. Maybe no restrictions is the way to go?

    the flea market
    church
    the park
    the grocery store
    the movie theater
    a concert
the gun store, because, you know, guns
a school, any level, nursery through college
    the mall
    a house party
    a block party
    a parade
a club, at any hour of the day

that's all i can think of off the top of my head. but nowhere seems to be safe.

We probably should have a white nationalist nationalist “great replacement theory” thread (although I find the idea of starting up one a bit unnerving) but that radical right-wing movement and theory ties in hugely to the Buffalo shooting.
Be sure to check out Heather Cox-Richardson's letter tonight (or tomorrow morning) which Mickeyrat will very likely post later on.  It really does a great job of giving some background to this very serious issue.  I think we all are getting a terrible glimpse of things to come.  I hope like hell I am wrong.

    Wrong. It’s the rap music.

LOL (sort of,  but I get it!) both ^^^.
Of course on a more serious note, a lot of it is being promoted by radical right wing republicans.  The Buffalo shootings, for example, are (at least in an off-handed way) being supported by the right wing fanatics.  The Buffalo shooter appears to have been motivated by his belief in "the great replacement theory" which proposes that "Democrats are operating an open-door immigration policy to replace Republican voters with people of color and keep themselves in power permanently" and that it is an "extremist ideology expounding the view that immigration will ultimately destroy white values and western civilization".
Well that sure as hell makes no sense.  First of all, the theory is false (you can read about that in the article I quoted above and linked below), and absurd.  Secondly, the people this creep shot and killed were American citizens.  Insanity takes a further tightening grip on an ever widening segment of America.  And that some of out so-called "leaders" are embracing this shit is quite disturbing.

For those Canadians reading....    imagine a political candidate running for Premiere who posts family photos of their kids and spouses all celebrating their guns.

What is considered 'normal' in America.... is right fucked up in Canada when it comes to guns. I remember watching the Rittenhouse scenario just floored... absolutely floored that a kid was running around with a rifle and it was like "Yeah, this... this is pretty normal."  Cops roll up....  "super, super normal"

100% on Alberta, but I don't think we'll ever get to the point of being excited and celebrating guns.  I can see someone strongly advocating against gun control legislation as it were.. but not openly celebrating guns with their family.  That's just creepy, even for Albertans lol

I don’t think the typical person thought that was normal. Nothing about those events were really normal. People setting fires to cars and buildings without any fear of prosecution. Looting and robbing stores in the open. A kid running around with a gun was just adding to what most people thought was crazy.

If these idiots really thought about it, since they believe people are being immigrated into America and are going to change the country, they should be advocating helping Native Americans to rid the country of not just African Americans but, hells bells, lets get rid of the English and the Irish and all the Hispanic people and those nasty Asians, and we definitely want to purge this country of the worthless Amish people!

Said kid, who travelled a couple hours to that nonsense, shoots 3 people, kills one, gets off and then is treated as a hero to 45% of the country and gets to meet the disgraced former president at his resort/home. Betcha this Buffalo terrorist also considered Rittenhouse a hero too.

Not surprised.   Living/visiting the US is like playing Russian roulette.  Living here I assume that at any given time one of us (family member) may be taken before we’re ready for it.  I tell my kids all the time that it must be all predetermined otherwise we’re all fucking crazy for never doing anything about it and making it stop. Citizens in the US have accepted that our lives are literally like a video game.

Looting and robbing stores in the open. A kid running around with a gun was just adding to what most people thought was crazy.
The media kept reporting things like “drove hours and crossed state lines” like it was a crime to do that. How many of us are crossing state lines for this tour? I am.
But in reality he drove 20 miles, to a neighborhood that was his second home. His dad lived there, he had lived there, had a job there.
He probably lived much closer and had more connections to that town than most people there that night.
I still think it was a terrible decision for him. I just don’t get the argument of he drove hours and crossed state lines. Half isn’t true, and the other half who cares?
