yesterday, my fifteen year old was singing " this is not for jews!" (not for you).
he knows the words, he was just trying to be funny.

Yes.. "like muhammad hits the truth....this is not for jews!"
Just said this with no meaning - don´t be angry for me :)

    Ah! Good ones!

My wife has always wondered about the culinary delights of "Muffin Man" and "Butter Man"....

yeah, that'd be Nothingman and Betterman, hon, thx.

Hehehe...when our daughter was young...she used to sing "BUTTERMAN"!!!
Makes much more sense, to live in the present tense.

Laughing out loud over here :D with tears running down my face

I've read the misheard lyric "her legs spread out before me" so many times now that I don't recollect the correct lyric anymore...ahhhhh

    Bryan Adams' "Summer of '69":
the correct line is : When I bought my first six string

but a friend of mine sang it always out loud as: When I had my first sex dream...and wondering why everyone was always starring at her when she sang it..lol

For a while I though the lyrics in Nearly lost you where:
I nearly lost you there and its taking off somewhere
I nearly lost you there and its trying to sleep now.

Of course its acctually: "and its taking US somewhere",
and: lets try to sleep now

but I thought lyrics to Little wing were
Well shes walking through the clouds, with a circus smile thats running wild
Butterflies and zebras move me. and also: when im sad she comes to me, with a thousand smiles she gives me glee.

I now only know what that last line there was: With a thousand smiles she gets to be free

Alive lyrics: "I can't remember anything to this very day
    'Cept the look, the look..."

I heard: "I can't remember anything to this very day
    Except love, looooove..."
This made much more sense to me even after I read an interview where Eddie talk about the whole "where to keep the look thing"...

My wife and my sister seem incapable of hearing any song lyrics correctly .

My favourite wifey mistake is from the Spandau Ballet song "True" , when he sings " listening to Marvin all night long " , refering to the legendary Marvin Gaye .

My wife heard it as " listening to more than all night long ".

I now poke fun at her , commenting on the great singer and his sexual preferences . Not straight , not bisexual , not gay , no he's more than gay .
Well it makes me laugh ...... no ? ....... no? ....... anyone ?............

I always thought "Turned to my nemesis...a fool, not a fucking god"

    was

"Turned to my nemesis...I fooled that fucking guy"!

I mean, it makes sense! :D
This is the greatest band in the world -- Ben Harper

  • Parachutes, I just realised, was a pretty bad one for me.

"I would've fallen from the sky till you, parachutes have opened now"
    I heard this as...
"I would've fallen from the sky to tell you parachutes have opened now"
Which makes an odd kind of sense.:D

But far more embarrassing is this one.
"Far away will be my home, and to grasp this I don't know."
To me, this lyric went as such.
"Far away will be my home, and the grass beside the gnome."
Y'know - the little gnomes people have in their gardens?:o

i had a huge misinterpret for go. what i thought is sooo far off from the words, but the way ed sings it really sounds alike. hehe

    i thought:
"Once fastened, servile, now you're getting sharp
Moving oh so swiftly, with such disarm"
    was:
"one step so sublime, now you'll be a star
moving on so swiftly, just past the sun"

wow. i had more bad ones. once i think of them i'll post again. fun thread.

i knew this next one wasnt it but still to this day i hear:
"glorified pleasures of a pelican" in glorified g, instead of
"glorified version of a pellet gun"

    oooh .. from habit:

"i'm so happy with my righteous self"
    was:
"i'm so happy with what my wife just said"

  • my husband's best friend from when he was growing up had a great lyric misinterpretation.

this is so ridiculous, but it's true:

he thought "I wanna be sedated" was "I want a piece of Eddie" and that Joey disliked Ed Vedder to the point of writing a song about it...nevermind that the song was released 13 years before Ten...

OK, it's not Pearl Jam....but yesterday I was really paying attention to "Breathe" by the Prodigy, I really thought it was....

"Take the pressure off me - Bake Sale! Bake Sale!"

I think they're saying "exhale"...and I'm not sure about the other part of the line either...Anyway, I had to laugh at me...at work...I'm an idiot sometimes.

But most of these examples in this thread are hilarious!! Way to go, people!

  • Hahaha oh this is great....The first time I ever heard Rearviewmirror, I thought instead of :

"Saw things, saw things, saw things.)

He was singing : "Soy beans, soy beans, soy beans."

    Yeah. Lovely.

  • My husband use to think Elton John's Tiny Dancer was "Tony Danza"...That's a scary thought unless you are Angela and Mona.

Whenever we hear it we sing loudly and proudly "Hold me closer Tony Danza"!

What´s really scary is that some people still listen to Elton John.

It's Alice in Chains song Rooster. For me this is one of their best songs, i love this song a lot for it's mood, tune and guitar work. But my misheard lyric is this:

"My body's breathin' his dyin' breath"

but i always hear it as

"My butt is freezing, His dying breath" :D
