I think if Trump were president, Brittany Griner would be back by now.

I know this is the Biden thread, but this quote is applicable regardless:

“Barely 48 hours since new broke about Trump wanting to send armed supporters to storm the capitol and social media is in flames thanks to multiple unfounded rumors about what Biden is planning and isn't planning to do.“

That, whether or not he'll expand the court (he doesn't have the votes, so why would he even talk about it?), progressives unrealistically pushing him to open abortion clinics on federal land to name a couple more.

The left has to be careful they don't go nuts on this.  Win elections.  That's our system.  Win at the state, and win at the federal level.  Get out and vote like right wingers.

I agree, which makes all the dragging of Biden about things he can't control that much more frustrating. We're at a very precarious point in time for our country here with the next two elections and the left as usual is shooting themselves in the foot & the media is chasing ratings & clicks.

biden finally came out and said he is in favor of abolishing the filibuster to codify roe v wade into law.

way to come around on that nearly a week late.

and he wonders why his approval rating is so low. always the last one to decide on what the majority of americans want.

    Good for him.

This idea any legislation needs 60 votes to pass is new. The filibuster has always been there, but look at the Clinton assault weapons ban… not filibustered. It got an up or down vote. Guns has always been just as controversial of a topic

60 votes to pass is used on literally every piece of legislation today

and another thing. not sure where to put this so it is going here.

another thing. why does schumer always refer to republicans as his "friends across the aisle"? does he not know that those people are not his friends? the republicans will shit on democrats all day on twitter and fox news, and schumer still calls them his friends. getting shit on all day and then calling those people your friends makes you look weak. we do not need weakness from the senate majority leader at this time.

maybe those people were his friends 30 years ago. but not today. it is a different world today and biden and schumer are acting like it is not.

Says the poster who posts without commenting on the contents of the link 90% of the time and then complains when, in the absence of their own opinion, someone responds in whatever manner they do.

Maybe you blame this nominee’s appointment for high gas prices? Maybe you think this nominee is uniquely qualified to hear cases and not let their personal biases get in the way of their jurisprudence? Or maybe you’re attempting to make Brandon look bad given the recent SCOTUS ruling and the state of the abortion debate?

I could opine but in the absence of yours, I made a comparison of POOTWH appointing wholly unqualified candidates to the bench and despite this nominee’s record on abortion, Brandon at least appointed someone who is qualified and may rule on precedent in all other cases before them. Also, I don’t believe that you’re really interested in my opinion, seeing how it’s not normal.

I thought Brandon publicly came out as firmly against expanding the court? Did something change? Or just more right wing fear mongering and how those communist, liberal socialist BLM’ers and Antiiiiiiiiifa’ers are going to stack the court and take your guns and need to be stopped?

biden finally came out and said he is in favor of abolishing the filibuster to codify roe v wade into law.

way to come around on that nearly a week late.

and he wonders why his approval rating is so low. always the last one to decide on what the majority of americans want.
    Good for him.

This idea any legislation needs 60 votes to pass is new. The filibuster has always been there, but look at the Clinton assault weapons ban… not filibustered. It got an up or down vote. Guns has always been just as controversial of a topic

60 votes to pass is used on literally every piece of legislation today
does he not know that manchin and sinema will not budge on the filibuster? he knows that, right?
To me if they supported it, then it gives them the power. those two could be running the democratic agenda.  It’s all upside for them.

Yup. You bringing up Trump 90% of the time is way too easy. It’s definitely the easy way. Too easy. Way.

Wasn’t complaining. I was actually laughing. It’s almost like you went right to Trump on purpose.

I’m not interested in your opinion at all. Luckily a few others have added to the conversation. Thanks.

Exactly.  His position is not particularly relevant.  This is a parliamentary issue, not an executive one.  And the D's don't have the votes to get it done.  I think your criticism of Joe is misplaced.  He respects the separation of powers and plays it that way.  He probably doesn't use the bully pulpit like he could, but I'm okay with that.

and another thing. not sure where to put this so it is going here.

another thing. why does schumer always refer to republicans as his "friends across the aisle"? does he not know that those people are not his friends? the republicans will shit on democrats all day on twitter and fox news, and schumer still calls them his friends. getting shit on all day and then calling those people your friends makes you look weak. we do not need weakness from the senate majority leader at this time.

A couple of things, government, however you define it and at whatever level, is by nature and throughout this nation’s history, behind the public on most major issues. It’s by design to be deliberative versus radical.

”My good friends across the aisle,” is senate decorum. The senate, with its 6 year terms and more deliberative debate style and the way they operate is what makes it more chummy. They represent their whole state, there’s only two of them and thus, it equalizes and levels the playing field. As opposed to the shit show that’s the house. Also by design. It’s where cooler heads prevail and deals can be struck. It’s the more “civil” body politic.

Fuck Manchurian Joe and Sinenema. Strip them of their committee assignments and let them be the repubs they are. And cut federal spending in their states, relocate fed offices, etc. until they play ball.

If you never have, sit in the house and senate galleries and watch what’s left of our democratic republic process. The house opens every session with members getting a minute to spew whatever the want. Very entertaining. But not nearly as watching the House of Commons debates. Boooooooris! Booooooooris! Be a good boy Booooooooris! Here, here! Booooooooo! Much more entertaining.

And Brandon has gotten what, exactly, out of having those two “dems” on his team? Please expound upon the benefits experienced through begging/pleading/cajoling them? I respect your opinion so please opine. Moscow Mitchum Baby is laughing all the way to the mid terms and 2024. Hardball politics sometimes needs to be played and that time was last year. It’s too late now but they should feel some serious pain for being repubs in dem clothing.

if schumer were lbj, he would be dragging manchin a sinema up and down pennsylvania avenue publicly until they got in line. what good is a majority leader that cannot even get his party in line? schumer is a national embarrassment.

Brandon, Schumer, Nancy, dem leadership should all be bearing down as well as heads of federal agencies and cabinet members to say, “ you know that little office in bumfuck? We’re going to relocate it a few hundred miles. Oh, and we’re closing that social security assistance office. And we’ll slow walk federal allocations to these state agencies.” Yea, play some fucking hard ball.

You're nuts.  Democrats won Arizona.  That's what Trump or DeSantis would do.
He got exactly an electoral college victory.
