I love the baseball stuff. Did then. Do now.
    Really? He was atrocious.
Well first off, no. To bat .202 with 50 RBIs, 30 stolen bases, and 3 homeruns in double-A pro baseball after not playing in 13 years is pretty damn good. Then he batted over .250 then in a fall league in i think Arizona. But more than that, that was cool as hell to take on the challenge. To willfully go from being the best in the world at something to start at the bottom of something else just for love of the game was incredible.

I'm glad to see that batting 202 is respectable to you...
For a 31-year-old that didn’t play since he was 17, I find it very respectable. I’m glad you’re glad.

It was also in AA, where most organizations have their top prospects.  If he had put up these numbers at a lower level, then I get the point we’re making a bigger deal out of a .202 season.
I wish I was a sacrifice, but somehow still lived on.

Right. And it skews low cause he couldn’t hit a curveball for a while there. A player coming from
college to double-A would be way more prepared to handle breaking balls from real pros than a guy that hasn’t played in 13 years. But like I said, he went on to bat .252 in the Arizona fall league. So was coming around.

He made an attempt which I give him credit for but he was never going to be good.

Never have I seen anyone celebrated for batting 252 in AA ball unless you were in your 30's and a basketball player, lol.

You’re getting it! Good for you. Yes, if a 22-year-old drafted rookie baseball player batted .202 and then .252, it wouldn’t be something to speak positively about.

I don't think it was about being "good." It was just about how we at least held his water at 31 years old.  Could he have improved enough to make the majors?  Not sure.  His athleticism and determination may have gotten him there, but it would have been very difficult.  Baseball is a game of adjustments, once you start to have success the rest of the league figures out a weakness.  There were probably holes in his game he would not have been able to rise above to be good enough to be a White Sox.

Jordan playing baseball reminds me of Tebow and his attempt.  I applaud the effort but it is never going to pan out.

Can we talk about the pick up games that were played during Space Jam now?

Yeah I don't think he would've been truly good enough to be on the White Sox. That said, I could see Reinsdorf giving him a chance (if he kept improving) just on the basis of ticket sales, etc. He'd have to play right-field and bat 9th (if he started at all) and would likely have to be platooned when going up against right-handed pitchers with sick breaking balls (Clemons-type guys). But I would've enjoyed it.

That said, when he announced his return to the Bulls, I was right down to K-Mart to buy a #45 "He's Back" t-shirt, and I was sitting like 2 feet from the television when he returned against Indiana. So it's not like I loved the baseball career to a point where I wish he stuck with it and didn't come back to basketball. But it was fun while it lasted, as was the second three-peat, and even the Wizards run to a degree. It was just nice to see him out there with the Wiz, even if, like the baseball career, there were few embarrassing moments. The more MJ the better...in both victory and defeat.

No we must talk baseball!!!  j/k

Those pickup games were pretty awesome.  I love the angle of where he was essentially getting a scouting report on his opponents.

According to Bill Simmons on today's podcast, that's the only footage they have of the Space Jam pickup games. He said the same thing to the director months ago when he saw a first cut; he asked for more of that footage and was told there isn't any.

Yeah I should be more clear, Simmons said on his podcast there's a bit more footage, but not like full games or anything like that.

I could go for more Space Jam behind the scenes stuff lol. I hate to admit it, but every green screen thing they showed last night, I was able to exactly envision the part of the movie that was from.

And speaking of Space Jam and his baseball career, that opening scene where he was up to bat and the catcher was trying to get him pitches to hit is one of the funniest sports movie scenes of all time.

Oh man that is disappointing that there isn't more of that.  Simmons had the same reaction that I did.  Seeing raw games like that is amazing.

All of Jordan's stuff has skyrocketed.  That UD card of him was always a 5-10 card.  Now it has almost tripled.  If you have it graded it's a 300 card.

His 80's basketball cards and rare inserts are where the money is.  I wish I had the Jumbalaya card...

There’s actually an auction right now where the bidding is up to $100 for the 1994 UD card. I wonder if the doc is adding value to that sort of stuff.

The whole sports card market is going nuts right now, the documentary has fueled the Jordan card market even higher than before.

I have collected cards for years and don't ever recall seeing a price explosion like this.  Lots of new money and that hack Bill Veeck mentions a card and the prices explode.

Look up sold listings for the Jumbalaya Jordan.  I had a chance to buy one when it was $700.  Wish I did.

A few years ago the Jordan fleer rookie took a nose dive.  I never thought it would go back up.  Man was I wrong...

I'll have to see if i have any other of his cards. I know I posted a handful of them a few pages ago. Might have some of his "common" cards also.

I'll have to see if i have any other of his cards. I know I posted a handful of them a few pages ago. Might have some of his "common" cards also.
Some of the common cards are going for big money too now.

The fleer metal cards have taken off, the EX-2000 cards have gone up, his finest cards are gathering steam too.  I bought the whole finest set for $80 last year.  That same set is going for 300 now.

Anyone have his rookie baseball card? Wonder how much that is going for nowadays?
All of Jordan's stuff has skyrocketed.  That UD card of him was always a 5-10 card.  Now it has almost tripled.  If you have it graded it's a 300 card.

His 80's basketball cards and rare inserts are where the money is.  I wish I had the Jumbalaya card...

wow, not too bad. Pretty sure I don't have that one.
Look up sold listings for the Jumbalaya Jordan.  I had a chance to buy one when it was $700.  Wish I did.

A few years ago the Jordan fleer rookie took a nose dive.  I never thought it would go back up.  Man was I wrong...
We picked one up graded 8 a few years ago for $350. Thought it may get up around $700 over time......look at it now.....oh boy.

This is a fake Jordan rookie card.  It is almost $600 and most likely the people bidding on it have no friggin clue that it's a fake...

Know what the hell you are buying before doing so, don't be like these people, lol!

Top pic is what I have and bottom pic is what I just sent out to be graded.
Wow nice! I'll take that extra 88-89 Fleer card if you don't want it

here’s all I could find (none are graded)

Found a few more. During that era my favorites were David Robinson (probably my favorite all- time basketball player) and Shaq. Have tones of their cards.

Fleer logo, black lines at name, name font, photo isn't pixelated, no decimal on the 27.2 average.  All red flags.

EDIT: An uninformed buyer is whom bids on this...
