But dismissing this as “only 500 cases NBD” is so disengenuous. There are 500-1000 cases right now that we know of but probably many more due to lack of testing. Further, a week ago there were 100. It’s not hard to project some really big numbers in 2-4 weeks time unless active steps are taken to slow the spread which is exactly what this move does.

A concert is a tiny tiny part of the risk we all face. That seems why they pointed to leadership not leading. But I'm not sure whether any country's leadership has canceled thousands of sporting events, circuses,  plays, operas, concerts, not to mention jam packed commuter public transportation and schools. 
 

I mean, Italy just did this yesterday.

Is that true? I assumed the opposite since some cities blackout local games if they dont sell out, to try and encourage fans to go to the games. Especially for teams with low attendance records. I wouldnt think they would risk doing that is most revenue came from TV.

I lived in San DIego from 2000-2008. Many Charger games during that time weren't shown on TV because they'd rarely sell out. Not until Tomlinson started breaking records anyway.

Thanks for sharing. I have full confidence any airline with policies through march will extend through April. But this saved the the time from calling to ask.

Same goes for Jetblue as we speak. Delta and United are covering April travel dates. Fully expect Jetblue to catch up.

Its true for the big teams in big markets, which is what I watch, fair point.

Football only has eight home games. They're trying to protect that investment/revenue. The other major leagues don't blackout if the game isn't sold out, even if they still have local blackouts to protect their regional networks. Most revenue is from the TV deals these days.

I get why they did it from a health prospective and their long history of taking care of their fans.  But there's also a part of me that feels they are taking advantage of a situation to support the liberal media's mission to promote fear, bring down the stock market and, in turn, prevent Trump from winning another election. Meanwhile, every other major act is hitting my market (Austin) almost every day this month.  Bottom line, the whole thing just blows.

I think they would much rather prefer to be on stage shitting on Trump than trying to prove a point by postponing tours and disappointing their fans.

UPDATE: Jetblue now covering fees for trips through end of April. This is new today.

Good point I haven't heard of any major concerts/events being cancelled in Austin. Seems like that part of you really knows what it's talking about and isn't in any way losing its goddamned mind.

Sxsw did not cancel the event. The city and state did. That why there is an uproar from people that the festival is NOT refunding anyones money. They didn’t do it. Has nothing to do with where people were coming from
