I'm optimistic that MB schools will reopen beginning of June. with the vaccinations being opened up to all adults, and 12 and over soon, and the current lockdown in place, should be good to go.

Have the welfare hating repubs chimed in on vaccine incentives yet? Why are we offering foreigners who can travel vaccines when our neighbors north and south of our border need them?

Good ideas.  I see more of this happening to get people vaxed.  I'm holding out for the Hawaii trip.

I believe we can see by date our totals. Hope so anyway. Interested to see the number of those vaxxed with at least one shot between now and final drawings.

And he's right. Americans are incredibly ignorant.
Americans are ignorant in a lot of ways, that is true. But don't criticize someone because they are poor.
"given the limited or no travel most americans engage in it makes sense they would be too fucking ignorant"
That is criticizing people because they cant afford to travel to other counties. Say we should take more foreign language classes in school. Say we should be more cultured, I would agree. But to say given our limited travel we are "too fucking ignorant" that is criticizing people for not being able to afford a luxury that the average family can't afford. "Too fucking ignorant" is not just saying a lack of knowledge. IUts people people down. You know it. He knows it.
It's ok to admit Americans are too fucking ignorant about the rest of the world. It's also no surprise considering how ignorant we are about our own country's history.

    No one's criticizing poor people.
That's how I took it, the lack of traveling. If the criticism was our lack of knowledge in culture and not our ability to travel, then I was wrong and I would agree. And when we do travel, many expect every country to know our language and our customs. American's are probably embarrassing as tourists for the ones that do go.  We can all agree on that.

that's not unique to Americans. Parisians, I've heard from people I know (my wife included), can be incredible snobby about anyone who attempts French. Even Canadian Francophones are laughed at over there. And I've also been told Quebec City can be like that towards Anglos. Montreal is awesome, however.

    I have a feeling I started this.
    I'll be more clear.....
I know plenty of people with lots of disposable income who, for whatever reason, only travel to the same place or places year after year.

I met someone the other day who has lived in Nebraska their whole life, almost 60 years and has never been to the Sand Hills. He travels to other cities and states on a regular basis but not his own state.

It was not meant to shame those less traveled. Or those who can't afford to travel.
More It was aimed at people not taking advantage while they can when they can.

That being said, get vaccinated and be able to prove it when asked.  Simple.

Agreed. We went from a headline of not wearing masks outdoors to indoors in what like a week? Huge jump and glad they are doing it.

To me, this signals the beginning of the end.  Unvaxxed folks haven't been wearing masks anyways, so no change there.  Sounds like we are getting to the point I would like to see.  If you want to wear a mask, wear one.  If not, don't.

Will be interested to see if Biden will go around without one now.  I mean, he shouldn't....  Right?!

Assuming the passports become a big nothing burger, looks like the end folks.  And by passport, I meant traveling within the states.  I understand each country requires different things and that's fine, but I shouldn't have to prove I am vaxxed to go to Kentucky when I live a stone's throw from the state line.  Or I shouldn't have to provide one to board a plane when people have been boarding planes the whole pandemic!

Assuming this is the end, it's been real, and it's been fun, it just hasn't been real fun...  Stay safe all and may God bless each of you!

Just  because  rich countries  can pay their way out with vaccines.  India is a very real look at what happens in poor countries and densely populated countries   and will continue to be absolutely devastating

    Merriam-Webster's definition of "ignorant":  http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ignorant

It has a negative connotation, and you know it does. You were insulting Americans for not being more traveled.
I inferred he was insulting Americans for not being more educated about the rest of the world.

You're doing a great job acknowledging how ignorant Americans are while simultaneously being upset about someone pointing out how ignorant Americans are.
I believe he is describing arrogance?

Unless I am missing something it only appears that I need to be vaxxed to be in the pit, not enjoy the show from seats.  I was in the pit in Seattle in 2018 and it sucked.  Seats on night 2 was much better.

Now, if I had to be vaxxed to be in the venue........  Whew.........  Probably not, not at this point anyways.  Give me several years worth of data regarding the vaccines and my opinion may change.  Currently and for the foreseeable future, I am out.  No reason to.

What are they going to do with those who create the very easy fake vaccination cards? It seems dumb to even try to enforce this. If they aren't spacing out seating and it's indoors, the risks aren't really any different. Seems like a lot of effort for little reason. Similar to how I feel about vaccine requirements for schools. You just need to have a notary public signed document stating you know the risks and aren't vaxxed.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Hell Yes. Fuck everyone else if they want to put themselves at risk. I wish every place/sports venue would do this as well.

But what's the point? If you are at an indoor event and vaccinated, why does it matter if the person next to you isn't? I know businesses can operate how they want, but this seems like a stance that doesn't have a whole lot of purpose behind it besides appeasing the pro-vax crowd.

mRNA vaccines have been in development since the 1990s

300+ million people have been vaccinated

    efficacy is 70% - 90%
(compared with 40% - 60% for the annual flu vaccine)

what data could you possibly be waiting for?!

Simple.

I had this same sort of thought.  There always seems to be something shinier and more alluring in other places.  I always had the idea, it's here I'll get to it, but rarely did I.   During the pandemic year, my kids and I did a within state trip every week, to see all the oddities, historical sites (in MA, there are so many), hiked etc.....  It was great.  There is so much cool stuff around, everywhere.   Not that I don't want to travel abroad, but it's sparked that idea we've all probably once had to travel around the country and see everything.   Especially in the US where the landscape variations alone could take lifetimes to see.

I thought about the same thing. I just got a card with my first date written on it printed on card stock. No name, no ID information, nothing. I brought the same card back and they wrote my second date on it. Anyone with a scanner, printer and card stock could make one with minimal effort. If they wanted it for verification, they should have put a little more effort and thought into the card.
I actually thought I lost my card when I went back for dose 2, the nurse just signed a sticky note saying I had 2 doses and told me to use that. When I found it, I just added the date myself to the card.
