    USA - Dunkin Donuts
    CAN - Tim Hortons

    USA - Little Caesars
    CAN - Pizza Pizza

    USA - AT&T
    CAN - Rogers

    USA - imperial system
    CAN - metric system

USA - health care is a scam
CAN - health care is free

USA - confuses patriotism with hatred and exclusivity
CAN - just nice fucking people that love being Canadian with a bunch of other nice Canadians

    USA - has Texans
    CAN - has Alberta

USA - cheese fries - not even close to the same thing as poutine
    CAN - poutine

    USA - about
CAN - aboowt - not a real thing, sorry.

Fixed a few things for you there.=)
I was comparing Texas to Quebec because both wish they were their own countries.
Cheese fries is the closest thing we have to covering fries in any type of sauce.
Aboowt is totally a real thing.  I've heard it with my own ears.

Honestly, most Americans don't think about Canada at all.  We are taught almost nothing about Canada in public school (we pretty much don't learn about any country we haven't been to war with) and we think and know little of Canada.
Most people only know the stereotypes of nice people who say 2 or 3 words differently than us, fishing and a vague sense of cold weather.

    It's pretty sad really.

Some of us live close enough to Canada that we often think of them. I get CBUT, the local CBC affiliate, as part of my basic cable subscription, so have spent decades watching Canadian news with Peter Mansbridge Ian Hanomansing, etc..., watching Hockey Night in Canada with Don Cherry & Ron MacLean, enjoyed local WHL rivalries in Major Junior hockey against Canadian teams, soccer rivalry with Vancouver Whitecaps. And as teenagers we'd cross the border to have our first "legal" drinks at 19. Before my kids turned 21 they continued that tradition. I love Canada! As a bonus, their anthem is way better than ours.

It's really difficult to generalize about countries as big as the US and Canada but some general comparisons:

From personal experience, I would say Canadian cities are far cleaner than US cities.  They seem safer to me as well.

Agree Canadian cities are far cleaner. Canadian cities are more eco friendly.
lastexitlondon, I would highly recommend a visit to Canada.

I just want to clarify an important point: our healthcare is not free.  It is paid for through our taxes much like any country that has a nationalised health services. I cannot think of any sane person in this country who would begrudge our tax dollars going towards healthcare.

I’m from western Canada.  I’d never seen bagged milk until I moved out east.

I looked it up, it appears to be mostly Ontario and couple other provinces .... I guess roughly 50% Canadians consume milk this way...

  • They sold it in bags in British Columbia until sometime in the nineties. They don't anymore but I do remember it from when I was a kid.

Sometimes it's not the song that makes you emotional it's the people and things that come to your mind when you hear it.

The potato chip aisle at a Canadian supermarket is truly a wonder to behold.

  • There's no better or worse. There are some differences. To me... this recent event sums up Canadians:
