team USA hockey coach John Tortorella says if any players sit during National Anthem during World Cup of Hockey they will sit for rest of game. Torts' son is an Army Ranger. Not a fan of Tortorella in general but i agree with his stance here.

There's plenty of places people can go if they don't like the U.S. free market system. If you don't like greed, guns and free expression then maybe this isn't the place for you. China, Cuba, North Korea are all Socialistic countries that you can go to; instead of attempting to change America into one, just move there.Post edited by dmaradona10 onLas Cruces, NM Pan Am Center September 14, 1995

It's ok for you to express an opinion but not the players? yes it's ok for me to express and not the players in this case. i was not chosen to represent my country in an international competition as they are. They are wearing USA on the front of their jerseys. if i was chosen as a representative of this country, no matter what beefs i might have with it, i should stand for that Anthem and Flag in my opinion. in this case if the players want to support the Anthem then don't represent the country in this competition. I don't think for this competition it would be right to wear the USA name but disrespect the Anthem.brianlux said:

If the same players want to not stand for it when playing for their regular NHL teams, while i disagree with it, they should be free to do it. i would find it disrespectful as I do Kaepernick doing it, but wouldn't deny them doing it.0 -
I wanna know who the fuck picked Torts to lead our country's team? That's a bigger crime than someone sitting for the anthem. What a complete fucktard. (Disclaimer: Opinion is based solely on previous coaching experiences and personal actions, and is completely independent of his statement about players sitting.)Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250

question, have any players currently on the team or those who may be considered to be chosen , made a statement suggesting they would sit?pjhawks said:

Exactly, a hypothetical question to a hypothetical situation that would probably never happen considering there is one black dude on the team. I guess the more troubling question is whether that is a public threat to a single player on the team?mickeyrat said:

I didn't notice the international aspect. Still, it's sports. I don't see the connection between sports and state. They're two different things.pjhawks said:

I think it's fair to expect an athlete who plays for his or her country at international competitions to stand for the national anthem ...brianlux said:

I'll tell you one thing, if I had an ounce of American Indian blood in my veins, no way would I stand for the anthem. Drum circle, yes! Neil Young and Crazy Horse, sure! Anthem, no way!"It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0
