He's been on my radar for a bit, mookey. I like the guy; good mind.

That was entertaining. In a weird way (since I'm not a Republican). I thought Kasich was the most impressive and Rubio also good. Huckabee is like your crazy grandfather you want to keep locked in the basement. And Jeb - wow, he looked like he didn't want to be there. And such a bore. Just my two cents.

Jeb looked like he was expecting questions on his brother and immigration, then practiced his answers all week beforehand.

Yeah, some felt scripted (say X, then pause for effect). Just answer, just speak, let it roll on out and PR be damned.

Enkidu, my Ohioan husband really digs Kasich, seems like a smart and unpolished man (in a good way, as in honest and no drama).

I surprised myself by watching in full, and glad I did.

Next year-plus shall be interesting, at the least.

My impression is that they are asking contentious questions because they know they have captured a very large audience and they want to keep the hits coming.

I was at a union meeting last night and missed the "debate" (might have been just as crazy) but I would think that everybody would be very careful not to piss off a crowd that for the most part is there too see/hear Trump...they will burry him no doubt but they will have to be smart about it...and work together to do it.

He was 100% correct when he was going off on Chris Christie. I like his stance on getting rid of the irs.

We will never get rid of the IRS. The IRS collects the taxes that we need to function. It doesn't make tax law....that's Congress. Any time a politician says that I cringe.

The only two who came across to me as being "presidential" were Christie and Bush. The others seemed either not ready, not qualified, crazy, or some combination of the three.

Can we get rid of Congress? Repeal and replace.

The irs could definitely be disbanded. It would take an overhaul to the tax system. Starting with a fair tax. But it could be done.

so who exactly collects this fair tax? Who goes knocking on the door when someone owes it but doesn't pay?

The government. Just as they did before the irs.

The Constitution endowed the Congress with the power to "…lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts, and excises, pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States." Ever on guard against the power of the central government to eclipse that of the states, the collection of the taxes was left as the responsibility of the State governments.

I've often thought we need to find a way to have a congress that really works the way it is supposed to- for the people, not for the 1% who get what they want buy buying favors.

The other change I would make (and will never happen) would be to reduce the power of the president. His or her main job should be to present the ideas that congress puts forth and just look good as a representative of who we are. I've never understood giving so much power to one person. A country is not a sports team.

I'd like to see the presidency consist of a single 6-year term. Don't worry about reelection, just do the job.
