That said, what mess are we talking about? I mean, the country is in faaaaaarrrr from perfect shape, but I wouldn't exactly call this a mess compared to where we were in the not too distant past and where the majority of the rest of the world is.

part of my thinking about the "mess" this country is in is the ever growing debt that just got a new limit cap bump of $1.5 trillion (I think) or the handling of our military and other issues that just clog up the media and the minds of the people while the government runs a muck with secrete or "sneak-in" bills to boost their positions in some way.

You do realize the raising of the debt limit is related to the continued congressional action of continuing resolution votes yes? Meaning there is rubber stamp spending rather than the normal budget appropriations process.

Congress really needs to seek where there is waste and fraud and eliminate that.

WE should also get a chance to see the budget spending for Congress itself. That would be a good place to start for wasteful spending.

Cant say top of my head. But at Clinton tax rates we were running a surplus, which should have been used to pay down the debt.

Bush entered, cut those Clinton taxes, refunded money, INCREASED spending via medicare part d legislation and started 2 unfunded wars. He did that shit by borrowing.

Under Obama, while we are running a budget deficit still, he did deal to bring that amount of deficit spending down by about half.

The best part was the Bush tax cuts included a provision that the rates would be restored after 6 years or so. When that expiration date came and went the GOP blamed OBAMA for raising taxes even though it was Bush's plan. Fucking insane.
