I'm not sure about the timing - I would think the same as you, in terms of expedience. Sucks that leniency is part of the deal.

As to the caption you mentioned, I hadn't heard of this debate. My first thought - the fuckity fuck?

    Why not do both?

This topic's a sore spot with many, rightfully so no matter the reason.

It's all good from here; better to discuss (or even vent) than not.

By the way, your :yin_yang: in the other thread made me smile.

I see JAG's point(s) - they're just poorly made, and made in the worst thread a person could make them in.
As for piling on....when someone posts something stupid and someone calls them on it...are we all then supposed to shut up, or are we allowed an opinion on the post as well?
callen - the white knight act gets a little tired.....We can either try to gain respect on this board thru our posting style and opinions, then hope for leniency when we inevitably post stupid shit......or we can say fuck the respect and roll with the punches that follow our stupid shit. I'd bet nearly half of JAG's posts contain a line or two complaining about the board and everyone on it....Can't say fuck the respect AND expect leniency when you post stupid shit, then on top of all that - play the victim card.

Call me what you want. Don't give a crap. Debate the post not lame ass comments like what you just did. . Pretty simple concept no? Go reread the posts in question. Also two wrongs do t make a right but alas.......

But it really was a contender for worst post ever. I don't see the problem.
Oh come on. I've read some head scratchers. Hell I'd nominate few posts on this thread.
Lol. No, really. A post about how child victims of pedophiles carry blame is definitely a contender.
Communicating via this medium can be a challenge. And so many perspectives.

  • I'm going to be honest... I see that picture of fatty arbuckle and I have this urge to punch him really hard in the stomach. I'll tell you this: we only know a portion of the story. I can almost guarantee there is much more that we know nothing of simply because it hasn't risen from the depths. It's like the guy who gets a dui- he has driven many times while impaired, but only faces consequences for the event we know of.

Fatty needs a whoopin'. Plain and simple. Maybe even daily.

Cue the inevitable 'we need to rise above our aggressive tendencies and place ourselves in a peaceful state of mind where violence driven by emotion is no longer a human trait'.

The even more fucked up thing is that it appears Subway was alerted almost a decade ago by multiple people on Jared's behavior. And Subway was just in the process as re-branding Jared as a "Family Man" a month ago ...

Jared has a serious problem. His partner in crime, the head of his charity, was busted a year ago and he couldn't part with video evidence of underage girls his buddy compiled. This is a millionaire who lucked himself into one of the greatest gigs ever and he couldn't find the strength to dispose of an SD card that would one day become his hangman's noose.

If it wasn't for one of the five rarest dogs in the U.S., he would have probably gotten away free. He took precautions and probably destroyed all his hard drives but figured no on would be able to find a SD card, so he kept hold of his first hand produced child porn.

Any sane person would have smashed that SD card with a hammer, set it on fire, and jettisoned it in a sack of rocks to the deepest spot in Lake Superior.

But he couldn't do it because he is a sick man and decided to roll the dice.

Why is anyone defending this guy?

I can't back many of your posts, at all....but I agree with this and it's something I've tried unsuccessfully to combat here. I think it's unhealthy at best and counter productive to progress in reducing crime at worst. I read that, if including prisoners, more men than women are raped in the U.S. annually. Reading the train, you'd think that's a good thing.

Exactly this. I don't give 2 shits what happens to Jared at this point, except that I hope he's profoundly troubled by his actions for the rest of his life. I don't wish anal rape on him. I don't wish a beat down on him. If either happens, I will lose no sleep. He will get what he deserves, and that will primarily be the torment and anguish of being locked in a cage away from his family for his kids' formative years. That works for me.

That's not far from where I'm at....but saying you'll lose no sleep over rape and vigilante prison justice could be said about the majority of people in a max prison if we look at their crimes individually. When the status quo is rape and torture (in the form of what amounts to sanctioned beatings) for a disturbingly large portion of the prison population, silence or not losing sleep contributes to the problem....imho, reasonable people should make it clear that rape and violence in prison is not acceptable despite the feelings the prisoner's crimes stir in us. This complacency/acceptance contributes to the culture of violence we see all around us, in ways similar to military/police hero worship/event spectacles, the death penalty, reaching for reasons to support the second amendment etc....we condone certain acts of violence all the time, and I think it just makes things worse all around...I have to wonder how being repeatedly raped and beaten affects the psyche of these people. most of whom will be released back to society one day. None of these concerns should be conflated with mercy....not the same thing....

Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery
I wonder how people would react to prison justice if it was dragged out of the shadows....maybe someday we'll get a politician that will make rape and beatings punishment for certain crimes part of their platform...I'm curious how many people would maintain their stance if it was put in plain terms instead of the current wink wink approach of letting the prisoners they loathe do the dirty work.

That's your prerogative....I don't begrudge you for that at all... it's understandable given that you can personalize this more than I....I hope you understand that I'm not defending him nor his crimes. If we disagree on suitable punishment - length of sentence, death penalty etc (not sure if we do tbh), that's one thing....but extrajudicial punishment / vigilante justice is not cool in my books.

    What is your agenda here?

Exactly what do you think is appropriate for a self-indulgent scumbag that f**ked young children (as Hedo so succinctly put it)?

Why do you express chagrin over the fact that good people here are repulsed by such a worthless piece of shit?

In my area, another scumbag convicted of over 50 counts of pedophilia at various times has just lost his appeal in the BC Supreme Court for his most recent conviction. He pleaded that his right to privacy was invaded when an on-line investigator sourced him to 1000s of graphic child pornography images.

Our f**king tax dollars have funded this piece of shit in trials, in prison, in rehabilitation, in law enforcement and... lives have been affected through his sick and dirty actions. He's gotten more than his fair share of 'fairness' and 'compassion'. And all this f**king garbage this worthless piece of shit demands as he tries to run from his crimes points to the failings of our justice system that tries so hard to serve f**king losers that it fails to serve our victims.

And, once again, I cite mentalities such as yours hindering any chance of reform that might put the brakes on such nonsense. David Caza... you have multiple convictions for child pornography. Please go die and stop bothering the general, hard working, moral public... abusing our legal system that is so ripe for abusing... and most importantly... leave our kids alone.
