its hardly prison. it's a probation center where she will do chores and stay overnight. not exactly there with harden criminals. way too light.

At 15 years old what happened to this boy would have literally been a dream come true for me. I wasn't innocent, I wasn't naive, I wouldn't be a victim. Some 15 year olds would be, but at 15 I was as much of a man as I was at 18.
The law is the law and she broke it, consequences must be had.
I just wonder if it is "wrong" in a moral sense. In some cases it obviously is, in others, I really wonder.

Guys - I've seen a lot of episodes of SVU on cable, so I'm basically an expert.
If they were investigating him for 10 years it's cuz they were trying to get the bigger fish, the guy running the website, the server, whatever. And they gave him that deal cuz he informed on a bunch of the other kiddie porn guys.

It is wrong, no doubt.
For a man or woman past their twenties to be involved with anyone under their twenties is weird and Fucked up.
I don't, however, think the younger party is necessarily a victim. That goes for male and female.

I have known many 15 year olds who were fully mature at that age, both male and female. They make their own choices and though the law has to draw the line somewhere, it doesn't delineate morality in a nice neat way.

I also think that when it comes to sex, criticism of double standards doesn't bnecessarily apply. Maturity and stability of the individual has to be taken into account. The nature of a 15 year old boy and girl are often very different, and the penetrative nature of sex itself results in a very different perspective and role for males vs females.

I understand what you're saying, gambs. And admit I have mixed feelings, especially toward your last paragraph. I'm reminded of that female teacher who had sex with her 13-year-old student, and is still with him years later, have children together.

There are anomalies for sure, but when someone is an adult (whether or not in a position of power or authority), having sex with someone at 14, 15, even 16 is irresponsible and depending on circumstances, fucked up.

That said, I've seen Summer of '42, and get it.

Yeah, the fact of the matter is that in MOST cases, no 15 year old truly wants to be fucking what they would consider an old person. Okay, there are rare cases where for some reason the kid is happily in it for life. But in most cases, and why the laws exist, the kid is simply being manipulated and used by some gross pervert so they can satisfy their own desire for sexual power and control. Even if the kid THINKS everything is cool, that isn't true because the adult is a fucking sickie weirdo. Any 48 year old who falls romantically and sexually for a 13 or 15 year old has serious problems that the kid likely doesn't even understand yet, and the kid should be kept away from that person no matter how they feel about the relationship.
