I read that he pled guilty to paying for sex with a 6 year old and a 14 year old and pages of child porn.. I'll bet he gets more than 2 years.

this guy at a BMX track used to bring a less fortunate boy(14 years old) to the track and races and come to find out he had been forcing him to have sex and threatin him if he told anybody.. he was given 16 years before he can go up for paroll and my opinion that is not enough.

Yeah, I don't wtf is up with Townsend. So many people obviously believe him though, including EV. I do find myself thinking that if the man has retained friends like that, then there must be a reason they don't doubt him about the research thing..... maybe there is something we don't know to make it completely reasonable? It totally sounds fishy to me too, but seriously, would Eddie Vedder really ignore it if he didn't have a real reason to?? Or is he just that blinded by idol worship? :i_dunno:

Eddie Vedder is human just like everyone else. Sometimes friendships run deep. Sometimes people refuse to believe what they probably should.

I personally think Pete is guilty. Any adult with half a brain doesn't keep a collection of child pornography as a side research project. I still listen to The Who though so I guess I've compromised something?

    * And I'm with RR: pedophiles can go jump off a cliff. It's one thing to hurt an adult... it's quite another to hurt a child.
Sure.... but I'm human too, and even if my own mother was caught with kiddie porn I'd never have anything to do with her again.

Now consuming a product of a sicko is a whole other story. I don't think you've compromised anything simply by listening to The Who. Me, I'm still eating Subway sandwiches and don't feel bad about it at all, lol.

I am kind of tired of explaining the whole Pete thing but I will make this comment. Police confiscated 11 computers from his home and no porn was downloaded on any of them. He used a credit card to access a porn site one time, to make a point about credit card companies financing porn.

He addressed the facts in numerous interviews when he published his memoirs a couple of years ago. Try Google.
that's what I thought too.... I read his biography where he explained what happened. apparently they found that he spent less than a minute on the site and never downloaded anything. I really don't know who to believe, but it seems like he definitely regrets even doing that and was also a victim of child abuse from his aunt and her lovers.

until I read that, I was boycotting the Who on principal. decided to read his book to hear his take on the case. definitely an interesting life he has led.
Oh, is that all? Then if that's actually true then whatever, that's ridiculous, and so is anyone who brings it up in a discussion as a case in point (assuming they know the facts). And since he was never prosecuted or anything, that seems likely. And I don't think it sounds weird for someone to try and access it just see how easy it is and be on there for less than a minute.... It's a shame they got his money for it though.

His claim is that he was doing research for a book and also for his charity that helps survivors of childhood sexual abuse. the suicide rate for survivors is pretty high and he wanted to do something to help them. he claims that he was abused as well. he aborted the book when he found one that had already been written and he felt that it was extraordinary and that he couldn't contribute anything that hadn't already been said in that book.

Once again, I don't know if he is guilty or not.. I am just relaying his side of the story.

Well, I work closely with Criminology professors and Masters students, and I know several of them would have reason to do that for research. There are also people who advocate for children who would do this so that they understand how the kiddie porn business works, how pervs get access, etc. You can't fight what you don't know. And that sounds like what Townsend is claiming. If he's telling the truth, that seems perfectly reasonable to me. So yeah, there really are legit no-pervo reasons to do that.

Whatever they can legally get him on, mickey. Statutory rape charges don't seem so far-fetched.

Ugh. Both him and that Taylor guy are beyond scumbags.

I hope he didn't fuck with his own children.

He's pretty good at defending his questionable actions.

For example, still on the Sex Offenders Register, he wrote a graphic teen sex story that got him into hot water too. He shrugged it off stating it was designed as a political comment. He removed it from his blog and also apologized to those who enjoyed the story he crafted.

If you are on a sex offenders register, I don't think it's wise to publish stories of teens having sex (let alone imagine them with such vivid detail).

    Maybe.

I could try Google, but it will give me multiple versions of the story including the one you believe. You may very well be correct, but you'd never find me accessing child pornography to 'prove a point'. If the version he wishes people to endorse is true then at a very minimum he's not very bright.
This is why I don't typically get into the whole debate about it. People seem to overlook that the events happened in the late 90s, when the internet wasn't nearly as widely available. There are a number of people here who seem to believe that he's guilty regardless, even though the police never found anything and never charged him. He voluntarily accepted a 5 year listing on the sex offender registry and now says he regrets doing that. I think it what Pete was trying to do was dumb but he doesn't need me to defend him. I don't personally know the man and he often says and does things I don't agree with.

I don't know if people on this board want to believe the worst of him because Ed thinks so much of him and it makes them feel rebellious (woo!) or if it gives them an excuse not to like The Who. But if you're suggesting, as I think, that the "one I believe" is because I like Pete's music, then I call that pretty fucking condescending. You don't know anything about my life or my experience of sexual abuse/awareness.

I will now let this thread go back to being about Jared, who is a disgusting excuse for a human. I'm out.

    No.

I don't think you get to throw a bunch of shots and then simply exit.

I'm not feeling rebellious at all. I remain skeptical because I'm a bit of a skeptic and where there's smoke... there's fire.

I also said I still listen to The Who so I'm not looking for an excuse to
    not listen to them.

There are conflicting stories. You believe one and asserted it. I never offered any reason for your motivation- that is for you to reconcile.

The worst of times..they don't phase me,
even if I look and act really crazy.

    well i will say something....

Jared fuckface will still be know as the sandwich guy in prison
only that Nasty Nate will be providing the saw-sage.....
if this guy is actually guilty of what they say he is....
then they should castrate him and throw him in with the general population for a life sentence.

Yes. I'm sure he will still be able to get his beloved 6 inch or footlong while in the pen.

that jared guy sure has a fucked up smile (& his eyes aren't any better) when looking at previous pictures. the ceo of subway should (just for kicks & good times) boot jared fogle directly off a cliff.
heck, why not punch him in the throat or get a tank & race it down a mountain as fast as you can travel that big bastard running fogle right over? get a log on fire & smack him in the head with it. i know, he can spar tyson in a pit fight. we could hook fogle up to a utility pole lowering him into a industrial chipper that generally eats refrigerators, stoves, couches, cars, 900 tons of broken hammers, i-beams, & endless bags of dog shit picked up from the yard where the neighbors' dogs have their craps

in all reality it should be like it was back in the day - if so - fogle would be nice wearing a .44 caliber hole upside his sick & dumbass head

as you can tell, (hell, maybe you can't) i've no time for these fools

Punch him in the throat too?
    Seems excessive.
