It is interesting and part of the pattern of JEB on foreign policy. He has always been a neo-con, see his work and signature as part of the Project for a New American Century (PNAC). But he went quiet on this after the disaster of the Iraq war. There was hope by some that he would be more in line with Baker and Schultz and his pops on a more pragmatic foreign policy regime. Alas, over the last several months he has veered into neocon (which is really neo-liberal) territory and has been aligning himself with the mindset of those ex PNAC people who run the National Review. Remember that he has Paul Wolfowitz and Steven Hadley around him now. You don't get any more neocon than that.

Exactly.. Or you can replace that with:

    Dear Bibby,

    You come first. Then us.

It seems to me that this thread ties in well with the photo and caption in the Why are Republicans at War With Reality thread and yet I see little response to that thread. The article posted there is very interesting and implies much more that it outright states. I hope we get some ideas going around some on that thread.

I've been a Dem, a Rep, and now Independent; fits for where I am, and I guess I see things similarly to rr...probably similarly to others as well, no matter party. Which is why I wish votes and support would be placed with those we feel are worthy, vs. affiliation. Judge the person on the content of their character, not the fact that they're black or liberal or female or conservative or gay...

Change indie to green and you have my situation. Don't mind indies or even peace and freedom party either. Bush vs. Clinton again makes me sick to my stomach because both repulse me. They're two sides of the same corrupt coin. We lose either way.

I don't agree with Bush/Clinton being the same. At a minimum the Dems represent the "people" far better than the GOP.

I can't imagine ever voting for a republican.

The GOP really has nothing to offer anyone unless you are top 3%. And only then if you are extremely selfish and blind to how a society operates.

I saw this, but didn't realize it was a "knowing what we know now" question. That is really an absurd answer. The only people I have consistently heard defending the decision still are the Cheney's. But they are in 'legacy protection' mode. This is quite an embarrassing revelation.

Just a bunch of talking heads over-analyzing a response to fill a 24 hour news slot.

Hearing his full response; it seems pretty clear his answer overlooks the "knowing what we know now" portion of the question.

    To counter over-analyze;

"knowing what we know now" Is a pretty vague set-up for the question. If the interviewer wanted to emphasize that point of the question, she should have followed-up his response with more clarity in the first part of the question.

What I get great joy from is watching the GOP destroy him. The hard right wants a Cruz or Huckabee...not Jeb

Jeeze...another guy who knows little about "the hard right". "The right" is made up of very different groups. On economic policy Huckabee is actually seen to be far to the left by the base of the party. Social conservatives might love Huck but the tea party contingent absolutely does not.

Of course because to you a conservative is a conservative. That graph doesn't measure fiscal vs social...it just lumps them all together. I am fiscal but not social, huckabee is social but not fiscal...plot us on the graph using their metrics and we're the same. The tea party was a response to George W. Bush's spending record...Huck would spend more then that while Cruz would tackle entitlement reform. They are different.

The cards are definitely stacked against him, but he tends to be socially liberal and fiscally conservative which is what I favor and would be interested in what he has to say during the primaries.

This is pretty much where I stand as well.

But he's not socially liberal... or at least he's trying to appear as such. He never backed down on Terry Shiavo, he supported Pence's law in Indiana, even AFTER the uproar by businesses,
