I knew an anesthesiologist who believed that prayer can cure cancer and the rapture was coming soon... Crazy!
I didn't even know OTC was a thing. It's funny how different regions use different positions/certifications to get the same job done. My job was great, I worked for Ohio State's biggest competitor, with the same volume of patients and half the residents and third years. I was uncertified, but no certifications are needed to second assist since 3rd years have none. They have a program where you start as an orderly and if you convince them you are smart/competent enough they slowly teach you to scrub and assist, starting with retraction and suction and running the scope on laparoscopic procedures. I did everything, open sterile field, transport patient, position and drape, scrub and assist, transfer patient to PACU, clean the room and start over. If you are slick and they are short handed you get to move up fast to total joints and laminectomies and the sort. I loved orthopedics, I worked specifically for a hip revisionist, he did knees and hips and about 3 times as many hip revisions as a normal orthopod. I left the job because we got tired of living in the city and now I bounce from shit job to shit job always missing surgery and dreaming about many nights. You just wait, scrubbing is a blast, and once you are gowned and gloved, the rules go out the window and you do what the doc needs you to do, regardless of whether you are "qualified" or not, it is all about if they trust you. I miss breaking the femoral head off when you reduce the joint for a hemi, what a crazy feeling.
Always nice to see someone enjoying their work, even when it involves breaking bones.
Oh wait, that didn't come out right....
my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf
Oh my liberal Democratic friends.Lets not get too comfy on that imperial high horse you guys have been riding the last 8 years. There is still lots of work that needs doing and it's pretty clear this country(not these PJ boards) is ready for a new direction.A solid Moderate republican ticket will push them over the edge.If My choice for Pres(Jeb) picked either Paul Ryan or Even Christie for VP I think that would do it.We don't need far right religious wackos or Entitlement championing far left liberals we need a press in office that will work together with the other side and let's get some stuff moving forward instead of the shit they have been shoveling us for the last 8 years. All of them have been worthless. Both sides of the aisle.
I suppose if you demos are going to hitch your support to anyone that may have a chance I guess it's Hillary. At least she knows how to work with the other side.

That was my point about Terry Shiavo and why I'm concerned... JEB intensely used his executive power, coupled with his fervent Catholic beliefs, to interfere in an intensely personal decision of a family. This was after the courts repeatedly rebuked the arguments being set forth by Shiavo's parents and by the 'laws' that were essentially written to try to nullify both the local and state level court's decisions. AND after all of that, after Terry was dead, he asked the St. Pete prosecutor (or Pinellas I suppose) to investigate whether she was abused by her husband. He has played the moderate card for years, but if you look at his stances on criminalizing drug offenders (as long as it isn't his daughter) and this whole sickening Shiavo situation, then I'm not so sure you can call him either a moderate or just an economic conservative.
Point Taken Mrussel1.Not his shinning moment. But his actions during our Hurricanes were top notch.I think he will be solid on Immigration and I'm not so sure he hasn't softened a little on certain Decriminalizing issue regarding pot.Our state AG Bondi is the conservative who seems to block progression.
Jeb,when the going gets tough he can govern without partisanship and has proved like Christie he will do what is right before just kissing party ass.The way I see it anyway.
He is competent from an admin perspective. But there is no evidence that he would govern without the heavy influence of the religious right, as far as I can tell. And for me, personally, that's my big hang up. Even Christie was hanging out with Iowa conservatives a few weeks ago. They have the party hijacked and until we return to the age of Rockefeller Republicans, I cast a wary eye towards all of them. I'm a social liberal and fiscal moderate, so I haven't been able to support the GOP for many, many election cycles. The only way I might vote for Jeb (or someone 'similar') is if the Dems put up Elizabeth Warren. She is far too left economically for me.
**Also.. I think Christie jiggling around on the hip of Jerry Jones should probably disqualify him for public office forever. Doesn't everyone in Jersey hate the Cowboys? So bizarre. I grew up in Ohio and if Kasich or anyone else was fawning over the Steelers, that would be a death sentence**
The GOP really has nothing to offer anyone unless you are top 3%. And only then if you are extremely selfish and blind to how a society operates.
I'm pretty sure exactly 1/2 the country disagrees.
But your response Made me think of something
if you look at which states are red, most are not strongholds of entrenched wealth. So that kinda shows many of your lower income earners are voting in these states for reasons other then tax breaks. Its probably tied to bible belt values. So how does a candidate that doesn't pander to the religious right like Bush or Christie win those states?Huckabee should be the guy for them right?

We have similar political ideology. So I do get where you stand. But I think the Religious Right won't be an issue with Jeb.
Im not as worried about Christie ,man loving Jerrah out in Dallas.Im a lifelong Tampa Bay Bucs fan and if I became a Gov in another state.I wouldn't stop my passion for the team.Fuck what others think. If someone doesn't like it they can kiss my ass.If I were Christie is I would have some fun with it.
Isn't Walker the Iowa front runner? When do you think Graham throws his name in.He might be a good VP on one of these tickets

But look at total votes cast....overwhelmingly Democrats. Gerrymandering is giving the GOP seats and elections in non-presidential years gives the GOP some advantage.
2016 will be interesting
But to answer your question...the GOP panders to ignorance. They convince low info voters that the GOP is their party by making them hate the government, taxes, poor people (amazingly they hate poor people even when a lot of them are poor), immigrants, non religious people, non war mongers, etc.
I watched two documentaries that implicated the Bush's, Sr. and Jr, as being conspiritors in the assasinations of the Kennedy's. It all seemed very plausible to me and I accept the implications as fact. There is a lot at stake when the white house is up for the take. Have the Clintons' and Bushs' been blessed by Divine wisdom; they seem to be royalty, born and breed to rule. I thought that was the core reason for the American Revolution.
I remember when, yeah. I swore I knew everything, oh yeah.
What's sad is the division that continues, whether intentionally or subconsciously.
I've been a Dem, a Rep, and now Independent; fits for where I am, and I guess I see things similarly to rr...probably similarly to others as well, no matter party. Which is why I wish votes and support would be placed with those we feel are worthy, vs. affiliation. Judge the person on the content of their character, not the fact that they're black or liberal or female or conservative or gay...

When John jr died, W went missing in election action. Nobody in his election team could explain to the media where he was. The Doc showed the media questioning his team. Kinda strange don't you think, the tightest race in American history (Bush/ Gore) and W goes AWAL. There was far more to it than that of course. These docs were found on INFOWARS. Don't think they are there any longer. I loaned my copies out and now they are gone. Of course there is no hard evidence, yet. Does anyone think John jr would have had a shot at the presidency. And just speculating now, but if George was an accomplice in JFK's demise; do you think John jr. might have moved to avenge his dad, as President. After all the President is national security, he can see anything.
Edit. the primaries were underway June 16, 1999. Not the election.

Man...I wish someone would present the facts in that video without going over the top in statements like 'the rockefellers ran auschwitz'. Can anyone recommend a doc that actually deals with US oversight of the Nazi regime without this kind of ridiculous hyperbole? Or one that deals with the lies and (intentional?) mismanagement surrounding JFK jr's crash? COINTELPRO anyone? goddamn alex jones....
Yet another president/front runner that smoked pot. The hypocrisy is insane.
It may be impossible to find a candidate who hasn't as the Gen x generation creeps into the forefront.I mean boomers do as well but more so with Gen X.
I'm 42 and work in a banking/finance with the biggest bunch of nerds ever. And I don't think I've run across someone that never smoked any weed. I don't think I'd trust anyone that went this long in life without trying it.

I've never heard this at all, ever. And I've never heard about John Jr. being politically motivated, so certainly not a viable 2000 candidate when everyone knew that Al was running. And if the Bush's were inclined to kill some Kennedy's, why wouldn't Bush kill Teddy? He was a powerhouse in the late 70's and certainly this was a time when George the elder had his presidential aspirations. Remember that George Bush was Reagan's chief rival in 1980 campaign and coined the term 'voodoo economics' for trickle down. So if the Bush's were clipping people, you would think Teddy and Reagan would be far higher on the list than John Jr.

It looks like the GOP message is now blaming Obama for the rise in income inequality. Now imagine that....
