Phillies fans want to start reliving Yankees World Series games?

Hey we gotta troll you from time to time too right?
True, true. That series was just a kick in the nuts after Boone
I hate the Yankees, but I think I hate the fact that the fucking Marlins organization has won 2 titles in the last 20 years a little more.
when it happened, it was 2 in 10.

I agree on the strikeouts with Howard but he has got to hit for a higher average.

strikeouts are NOT "just another out." with a SO, you can't advance a runner, induce an error, etc. I do, however, believe the old saying "if you think you're gonna hit into a double play, strike out." probably especially true for the not so fleet Howard.

The one thing I hate about baseball today is the number of strikeouts. Obviously a completely different game than back in the day but the fact that victor Martinez is being heralded for having less strikeouts than home runs a month and a half into the season is funny to me.

Joe d had 9 more strikeouts then home runs over his entire career

Now obviously that is not the norm but put the fucking ball in play

    Haha...really????

You take the good with the bad. In his MVP year he struck out 181 times. Only Dunn struck out more. Difference is he hit .313 and had a .425 obp....and now he's batting .239 with a .313 obp.

well i think that theory depends on the player, position in the lineup and what asked to do. if i cut down on strikeouts but hit 10-15 less homers in a season is it worth it? for some players i would say no.

Wait...that doesn't make sense. It's not an either or thing. If he cut down on strikes outs, odds are his home run totals will increase just with him putting more balls in play....

disagree. i think he could put more balls in play if he concentrated on just making contact but that would lead to more singles and thus a higher average but not more home runs necessarily. many home run hitters swings result in higher home runs and higher k's. justin upton, dan uggla are just two other examples currently. and there are many hitters in history including michael jack schmidt.

and this last comment above from you totally contradicts your point above about Ryan's MVP Season where he struck out 181 times but hit 58 home runs. are you suggesting he could have hit 65-70 home runs if he cut down on the strikeouts? that's a leap that i don't think you can make.

Dude you take the good with the bad. You sound like you enjoy all the strikeouts. If he didn't strike out 181 times in '06, he probably would have hit a few more, sure.

    Dan Uggla is garbage.

Just because you're a power hitter doesn't mean you also have to strikeout at such a high rate.

Schmidt averaged 127 strikeouts per year. Howard averages....193. Please don't compare Michael Jack to Howard. Schmidt cut down his KO's as he got older and hit more home runs and his average rose as he got older too. Howard is the exact opposite compared with Schmidt.

I'm not trying to shit stir here, but it just occurred to me that Howard is a what...one/one and a half tool player?

Right now it's all or nothing for him...again, like I said he is healthy for the first time since 2011. No excuses.

Why isn't Jimmy back at leadoff and Chooch 2nd? A pitcher only has to concentrate on 3-4 hitters on this team. I have a choice between the Phillies and the Collegiate Rugby Championship on Saturday, right now I'd rather be in Chester.
    Alright, alright, alright!
