That would make total sense. I completely wasn't thinking in that direction.

    Thanks!

Hey guys, quick question. Maybe I'm over-thinking things here, but I need a bit of clarification on the priority of ticket selection.

For example, if I set my priority for Wrigley to 1) Field Reserved 2) GA 3) Upper, how does that work? If they start the lottery with field reserved, then fine I get it or I don't. Then if they move to GA for the lottery, again I get it or I don't. Same thing for if the 3rd drawing they do is for Upper.

However, what if the first lottery they do is for GA? It's my 2nd pick so do I get entered into that lottery and if i win I'm not eligible for the field reserved?

Perhaps simplified: If there were only 2 ticket selections available, London and Chicago and I make Chicago my #1 pick and London my #2 pick, but they do the London drawing first and I get tickets there, does that mean I don't even have a chance at my first choice? If so, it's a bit of luck on which lottery they run first...correct?

Just trying to clarify what happens, if anyone knows. I realize seniority hits for those who win the lottery and that's how they figure out assigned seating, I'm just not clear on how the preference of tickets is, for lack of a better word, enforced.

Whatever it is, I'm pumped for Wrigley!!!

    Thanks!

    Hey PT,

The way i see it is they select member numbers from the lottery. If your number is selected you get your first choice if it is available. If it isn't available you get your next choice. This process continues until all tickets have been sold. So they arent specifically drawing GA then Field or something like that. They are drawing specific members and if you get selected you get tickets based on whats available in your priority. Hopefully that was clear and it helps.

First off, this isn't one of those threads where the OP threatens to not renew and everyone says "great, better seats for me!".

I'm simply saying that I don't appreciate or agree with 10C turning the ticketing system into a gambling system. There's a reason I don't play the real lottery and I don't gamble in casinos and that is because I don't like pissing away money. But that's just what this system encourages.

I, like many of you, am only in this fan club for tickets. Sure the other stuff is cute and all but honestly, it's for the tickets. I'm happy to say that I live in the north east and have never once been shut out of a show. Why? Is it luck? No. It's because I plan for this shit. I take off work and as nerdy as it sounds, I literally sit at the computer and practice for a few days before a sale. I map out where each button is just in case the page doesn't fully load. You see, I employ this secret ingredient called EFFORT. And guess what, it fucking works!

It's not much different than back in the day when I slept outside on a sidewalk for tickets to a high demand show. If you want something bad enough, you should have to be willing to go the extra mile. People who support the lottery system are probably the same people who want to ban tag on the playground and declare both teams winners in little league games.

But back to my original point. With the new system, the chances of scoring tix are taken completely out of my control and I'm giving 10C $20 to gamble with. I'm sorry but if you look at the numbers, it's a terrible bet.

I hope I'm not alone in this and if I'm not, is there any way we can stop this system now before they actually try it for a real tour?
    AGREED!!!!!!

I originally thought this is how they would do the lottery (makes 100% sense to me) but when I contacted the 10c they told me they are doing the lottery a section at a time (not a person at a time). When I'm home I'll copy the email I got from the 10c into a post. Wish they would just send out a notice explaining how the process works since it definitely is not obvious. The 10c responded to me within 2 days so if you need their confirmation I would recommend sending a quick email well in advance of Thursday's lottery

that makes no sense to have expected that. they will select the winners for the first choice, and if there are still tickets then conduct a lottery for those who picked that show as a second choice.

this is an ideal situation for in demand shows, in that if there is a 2 night run at msg for example, its never going to get to 2nd choice for either show, thus allowing a greater number of people in with fan club tickets to one of the two nights. sure, you won't get 10C tix for both nights, but it might do some people good to have to sit with the common folk for a show or two.

Below is the email I sent to the 10c about the lottery.

    Ten Club,

I’m still trying to figure out how the lottery will work exactly for Wrigley when multiple sections are selected. Will the priority be used just to determine what seats are purchased when a lottery pick is made or will there be separate lotteries for each section? I was wondering if selecting the GA Pit as top priority would hurt my chances for winning any lottery pick since that will be the most popular section.

    Thanks,
    AJ

    Below is their response:

    AJ,

There will be separate lotteries for each section. Names will be pulled for each section taking your priority choices into consideration. So if you are not pulled for GA tickets, you'll still be in the running to be pulled for the other two seating options as long as you entered for them.

GA is a popular ticket option but has the least amount of tickets available.

    Best,
    10c

I hope they draw ALL of the 1st choice sections first, before moving on and filling in leftover tickets with 2nd and, if necessary, 3rd choices.

It would kind of suck to be drawn for your 2nd choice without getting a chance at your first choice.

Ex: say they start Chicago by drawing 1st choices for upper box. Reserved Field will be 2nd, then finally GA.

They complete the upper box draw and there are extra tickets available. If they immediately start drawing 2nd choices, (and it sounds like this is how it will be done), anyone that has that section as their 2nd choice will have a chance to be picked.

What if their first choice is GA or reserved field? They will not have an opportunity to lose their first choice before being pulled for their 2nd.

Maybe this has been asked and answered already? Am I thinking correctly here?

^ yeah for wrigley they would go section by section of first choice before moving on to the next level of second choices. they wouldn't give someone a 2nd choice if their first was available. i'm just talking about for a normal show when there likely won't be multiple choices.

The OP is referring to the annual fee.

You pay in 20 or 40 bucks and based on a drawing...you might get tickets.

because the Ten club also offers exclusive merch and gives annual gifts with the $20, it's not legally gambling.

But then again selling a $300 cup of water with a free Pearl Jam poster isn't legally flipping...but is it right?

I wonder about 'normal' shows, too. the ticket faq section says this:
Q: How does the show priority selection factor in to the drawing?

A: For each show we will randomly draw members who have made that show their #1 priority. If any tickets remain the system will randomly draw names of members who have chosen that show as their #2 priority, and so on until every ticket for a given show has been sold.

I hope I'm just over-thinking this, and taking it way too literally, but it would be nice to have confirmation that all 1st choices will be drawn for all shows before filling in any extras with 2nd and/3rd choices.

it could potentially happen that maybe if there was a show with low demand you could get a 2nd or lower choice filled and then get shut out of another show that was your first choice. say getting picked for a show in Ohio that was listed lower priority than your first choice like MSG which will likely never get to the point of picking any entries other than first choice. i believe that's why they say only enter for shows you can attend.

Can't or don't want to? Don't you get vacation, or is using your vacation for something else a higher priority? Do you have a job like a teacher who has trouble taking days off? In that case, can't you arrange for a someone to help? How about a friend, family member, co-worker, or maybe even the person who is taking your extra ticket?

Following your same logic, not all of us can take time off work to surf this website enough to be on when limited merchandise is released. Not all of us can take time off work to get in line at the venue at 4 AM to get to get up near the stage. Not all of us could take off work to join the 10C in 1990, so seniorty is unfair.

yes I am the 492xxx that won the 'lottery" should I feel guilty?

I have been a PJ fan forever, paid full price for anything I have ever bought of PJ including tickets where I was sitting where I could barely see or hear anything, other times lucky enough to score great tickets.

Although I always wanted to buy a membership to 10C, I felt it was a 'luxury item" that I could not afford before. This year it was my Christmas gift, I never felt so excited to be part of such a "PJ Club" with like minded hardcore PJ fans.

i did not even expect to win the ticket drawing, but was thrilled that I did. Soon as I found out I won I offered my extra ticket to a member of the "Pearl Jam Family" as I wanted someone who loved PJ as much to come and see the show.

From what I have read here, and obviously people having issues with ME being one of winners, I can say is that I am shocked by the childish nature and personal attacks.

PJ music brings people together, yet all I see is greed, self entitlement, and having a hate on for people based on their ### Like really?

Thanks all for making this newbie member feel like I am on the outside and non deserving of anything related to PJ. :nono:

You should not feel guilty in the slightest. Congratulations and enjoy the show! Seniority for some has become something the band never intended it to be. Eddie does not even use it for his solo tours and I find that to be very telling.

However, I do realize I am deserving, and will enjoy the show like I always have in the past and kick back, love listening to PJ and getting on my cloud listening Vedder's voice whether you feel I am deserving or not. :D

You should not feel guilty in the slightest. Congratulations and enjoy the show! Seniority for some has become something the band never intended it to be. Eddie does not even use it for his solo tours and I find that to be very telling.
as almost always i agree with Bostonian Dimitris
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
    "..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”

From what I have read here, and obviously people having issues with ME being one of winners, I can say is that I am shocked by the childish nature and personal attacks.

should you feel guilty? no! absolutely not! enjoy the show!

i haven't noticed anyone personally attacking you - shame on them if they did.

but then you should also watch what you say when you call people greedy and self-entitled when you obviously don't get the point.
did you see me? i saw you.

Ok, I got a question for you, and everyone else. What do you call those people who went in and invaded a pre-sale yesterday that was intended for Wrigleyville residents ONLY? What do you call those people who did everything possible to STEAL a password, that was NEVER intended for them, so they could get in a pre-sale and STEAL tickets, that were intended for Wrigleyville residents ONLY? What do you call those same people who whine and bitch that scalpers steal tickets from fans, yet they go right ahead and steal tickets from Wrigleyville residents? What should we call those people?
    Greedy and self-entitled?
    Take me piece by piece.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
