What a dummy. What if it's chilly out? It's not like the kid wore his hoodie up with sunglasses and gloves on in June and walked into a bank. He was walking home at night in February.

Actually, a hoodie in Florida is very questionable. This shouldnt have any bearing on this particular case, but I can honestly say that when I see a person wearing a hoodie when its 85 degrees out, I question that persons motives. A lot of gangs and dangerous people wear these in south florida to conceal weapons. I had a man in a hoodie come up and point a gun in my face once, so I am a bit biased though.

But on the other side of things, hoodies are pretty fucking comfortable...like wearing a blanket around. ;)

It said somewhere that it was raining lightly. Regardless it's a stupid argument by a terrible journalist.

Well, if anything Geraldo Rivera knows that certain things in your appearance get reactions from others... I mean when I see someone walking around with a duster like his, I assume they are either a retired 70's porn star, or that there is a Burt Reynolds look-a-like contest in the area.

    Statement fromt he accused's father:

Statement of Robert Zimmerman, father of Neighborhood Watch volunteer/Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman:

“The tragic events of February 26 are very sad for all concerned. The Martin family, our family, and the entire community have been forever changed.

The portrayal of George Zimmerman in the media, as well as the series of events that led to the tragic shooting are false and extremely misleading. Unfortunately, some individuals and organizations have used this tragedy to further their own causes and agendas.

George is a Spanish speaking minority with many black family members and friends. He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever. One black neighbor recently interviewed said she knew everything in the media was untrue and that she would trust George with her life. Another black neighbor said that George was the only one, black or white, who came and welcomed her to the community, offering any assistance he could provide. Recently, I met two black children George invited to a social event. I asked where they met George. They responded that he was their mentor. They said George visited them routinely, took them places, helped them, and taught them things and that they really loved George. The media portrayal of George as a racist could not be further from the truth.

The events of February 26 reported in the media are also totally inaccurate. Out of respect for the on-going investigation, I will not discuss specifics. However, the media reports of the events are imaginary at best. At no time did George follow or confront Mr. Martin. When the true details of the event become public, and I hope that will be soon, everyone should be outraged by the treatment of George Zimmerman in the media.

Our entire family is deeply sorry for the loss of Trayvon. We pray for the Martin family daily. We also pray that the community will grieve together and not be divided by more unwarranted hate.

The Zimmerman family will have no further contact with the media prior to the resolution of the investigation. It would be greatly appreciated if the media would respect our privacy.”

Interesting statement but what it boils down to is Zimmerman shot a kid holding a drink and candy.

"At no time did George follow or confront Mr. Martin." Um, how does this guy explain the 911 call in which Zimmerman says he's following the kid because "these a--holes always get away?"

I read that Martin was 6'2". Wouldn't have thought he was so tall based on the photographs the media has shown. Wonder how long the fight went down before a firearm was discharged. If there was a fight?
  • hedonisthedonist Posts: 24,524
It doesn't seem like there was a "fight". At least, not a fair one.

I too am confused by the conflict of the father's statement and the recorded call, as to the boy being or not being followed. Both can't be true, and there's evidence pointing toward that he was, so....

Also, Geraldo's a fucking idiot for those (among many of his other) comments.

Zimmermen didnt have no right to following Trayvon. The kid had a bag of Skittles and Ice Tea. Zimmerman is nothing but a wanna be cop. I am glad the Feds are investigating this matter. This BS needs to stop. I am also proud of my hometown team to show their support. And also to Miami-Dade school admin who allowed to students to protest today.

    Gun vs. skittles

I don't care if he's 6'2" or 7 feet tall, he wasn't gonna win that battle.

Media bias? All witnesses and evidence and the sound of the shooting itself point to Trayvon being scared shitless at the time of the shooting.

I'm Canadian, and just watched ABC Nightly News talking with African American parents who are now telling their boys not to wear hoods up, keep your hands out of your pockets,to carry goods home from the store in bags with receipts, and to not approach or walk to closely to people, and I just feel very, very sad, and very, very sorry....I live in a very diverse community and really never give such incidents much thought of happening where I live, and I couldn't imagine the pain involved for all citizens....sending much love....
