An excellent Can't Keep opens here followed by Corduroy, Grievance and Save You. After Given To Fly there is alot of chanting "Stone, Stone, Stone" from the crowd. Mid-main set the sequence of Even Flow, Present Tense, Jeremy, Lukin and Not For You is just excellent. Thumbing My Way then briefly drops the tempo before a great Spin The Black Circle and Alive close the main set.
Unusually, You Are opens the first encore and is followed by Animal. Daughter is next and is tagged with WMA and People Have The Power and Ed gets the crowd singing here superbly. After State Of Love And Trust, Black closes the encore. The second encore begins with I Am A Patriot and is followed by Driven To Tears. After Betterman, it's 3 covers to close the show - Crazy Mary, Sonic Reducer and Rockin' In The Free World.
Thoroughly enjoyed this boot.

Up to red mosquito and it's a lot better a show than buffalo. So far I'd say it's on par with Pittsburgh. Ed sounds much better than he did in buffalo, thank goodness. You can tell they are still getting in the groove of things being only the 3rd show, but it's not quite what I'd call sloppy. Buffalo was sloppy.
Btw, is it just me or are the guys starting to slow many songs back down to near proper studio speed?

"Saturday night in the Steel City" is how Ed describes this a few songs in. Small Town opens before the high energy of Hail Hail, Save You, Corduroy, Insignificance and Cropduster take over. Later in the main set, Immortality is quality and Blood is next - 12th song in, Ed noting after that "usually we play this as the last song in the set - because I can't sing after it!". They pick up the main set with Down, Wishlist has a great outro and Go ends the main set.
Last Kiss starts the first encore and is followed by Breakerfall, where the guys really struggle with the intro. Next is The Mamasan Trilogy of Once, Alive and Footsteps. Rearviewmirror closes the encore.
The second encore begins with You've Got To Hide Your Love Away. Porch is unusually the penultimate song of the night but is brilliantly placed. Yellow Ledbetter is the final song and Mike leaves some great feedback on the guitar at the end.

I enjoyed this boot quite a bit, but always got the slight impression Ed was showboating and a little drunk towards the end of the gig.

Listened to this one yesterday. I haven't heard buffalo yet but honestly thought Worcester 1 was a bit rough around the edges. Was Ed sick at this time? I think he might have been but can't remember. He seemed to struggle to reach up to some of those notes especially on sirens and infallible.

Trust me, buffalo is more rough. But to be clear, I felt after listening to all of Worcester 1 that it was a good boot, not great. It was better than Worcester 2 and a lot better than buffalo. I personally think Pittsburgh is the overall best out of the first 4 shows of the tour. I believe the band will get tighter over the next few shows, they usually do. But I agree, the boys do sound a bit rough on Worcester 1, still they clearly had a lot of energy and good vibes. There are several little mistakes, but nothing too distracting.

Cracking boot. Pretty much from start to finish there is nothing wrong here. Crazy Mary opening is actually a very good choice. 2nd in is Spin The Black Circle, another in an unusual spot at this point on the tour. Hail Hail, Save You and Green Disease complete the opening salvo and the latter is very good. It's a Mike-fest with Nothing As It Seems and Even Flow back-to-back. Loved the Half Full/Daughter (with WMA and Androgynous Mind)/Corduroy run and Black as the penultimate song in the main set is quality.

Exactly, agree 100%. I think it is for the good. It seems the right way to go through 35-song nights in terms of pressure on Ed's voice.
