Also: A representative from XL records has just sent this email out:
Radiohead have brought forward the digital release of their new album "The King Of Limbs" by 24 hours with the album now being sent to those who pre-ordered it earlier this week. It is also available for new orders through http://www.radiohead.com at a fixed price of £6. A special edition is also available.
With everything ready on their website, the band decided to bring forward the release by a day rather than wait until the planned date of Saturday, Feb 19 to deliver the music.
I am confounded by people who don't like Hail to the Thief. It's an incredible album.
Yeah, I liked it a lot when it came out, and it felt like a return to the Radiohead I liked - but over time I have come to love it even more - and go back to it a lot! Twisted dark and fragile - beautiful stuff

Well I listened to it and sorry to be a party pooper but it's pretty dire. I was kind of glad when it was all over to be honest. 'In Rainbows' is much, much better. Saw this 'review'
It's rock music as mime: all the posturing and none of the substance. Or humour. It's rock music as midlife crisis: premature and unwanted. It's rock music as mud: grey, formless, useless.'
I think it sums it up pretty well. I'm certainly no die hard Radiohead fan though. Maybe they will think better of it.
Lotus Flower and Separator are the only stand out tracks for me.

Well you never know. I think the kind of music Radiohead make it's always going to divide it's listeners in strong measures.

Radiohead's ability to reinvent themselves with everything they release is bound to produce split opinions. Personally, I try and imagine I'm listening to a band I've never heard when I hear a new Radiohead album... Avoid all expectations, as they avoid all inhibitions. This is a beautiful, surreal, haunting sounding album with Radiohead's signature embedded at its core. On my first go, and lovin' it.

I listened to The King of Limbs properly lying on my bed with my headphones - and I liked it a lot - the first half reminded me of the Eraser, and the second half Thom Yorke's singing took me to some proper In Rainbows places, and had me right there hanging on his voice, and getting lots and lots of images come up, like I have had when listening to In Rainbows. I'm definitely going to give this album some time - I heard a lot in Thom Yorke's voice, especially in the second part of the album.
It brings together a lot of different parts of Radiohead's later output I think, Kid A and Amnesiac type stuff obviously but also including In Rainbows and also the Eraser. A lot of the time, I was thinking 'this is a jazz album!!'
Going to listen to this some more over the coming weeks for sure

Well said. Something I will say is that I don't feel it had that continuity throughout that I've felt in most of Radiohead's previous albums... There were points where I felt that the flow from song to song was abrupt - but knowing Radiohead, I suppose that is intentionally jarring to increase the impact of the transitions.

this is a great album, very mellow stuff, listened through once, now i'm gonna leave work and drive around listening to it under the guise of going to a meeting.

I've listened through once and I gotta say, I think In Rainbows blows this one away. Sounds too much like Thom's solo stuff for my liking. Maybe - like every other Radiohead album - it just has to grow on me, but this one is leans more towards techno, which I was hoping wouldn't be the case.
I'm not disappointed, but at this point I'm glad I got the wav's and didn't drop $50 on the vynil/cd.

In Rainbows doesnt just blow it away... it crushes it into tiny atoms and farts them into space... the new album is a pile of frozen piss. In Rainbows had songs and guitars and chords... this new one sounds like Thom's wife bought him a new Korg synthesiser and he feels obliged to use it on every fucking song.
horrible.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

See, now why can't Rolling Stone have reviews like this? If they did, I might actually read it. Reminds me of a quote I read once (maybe even on this board): "It's official - Johnny Greenwood hates his guitar." I don't hate the new album, but I can see why people will. Especially after the promise In Rainbows showed for a return to more guitar-driven stuff...
