Oh yeah, this album will get bashed by A LOT of people. Especially after the guitar-based IR.

"Morning Mr. Magpie" has got such a sick groove to it. Lots of drum 'n' bass and free-form jazz influences on this record.

Also, I'd say the second half of the record is a lot more accessible, for what it's worth.

"Lotus Flower" is so good. But my favorite song is probably "Separator."

I never knew 8 songs could even qualify as an "album".

Especially when they're all trash. Fuck off Radiohead.

What took them so long to make this?
  • I'm on my first listen, hard to know what to make of it yet, but I do really like Codex.

I absolutely love this album (after first listen). This band knows hot to make albums, not just collections of songs like most bands do.

Though I have a feeling King of Limbs isn't quite as good as this album...

Anyone who writes off any radiohead album on the day it is released is clearly bonkers. In fact anyone who writes any album off on the first day's listening should have their license to listen to music revoked.

I'm on my third listen, and enjoying it more than I did Kid A and Amnesiac - which I like a lot more these days than I did at first. I loved the Eraser, and the first half of the album is clearly most similar to this in many ways. It is an album of two halves - with the first half most similar to the Eraser and the second half most similar to In Rainbows IMHO.

The electronics don't put me off - I am enjoying this album with my 'Jazz listening' ears on. Some haunting haunting vocals - a lot of layers, a lot of layers to absorb, and an album to give the amount of attention and respect you feel Radiohead may have earned to date. It will be several months of listening before I write this one off.

  • Good point Tremors. Give it time people. Some people still can't grasp Amnesiac. It's most certainly not trash Dewie. You must love The Suburbs ;)

I haven't heard it yet - didn't realize I could download it until I left my house this morning.

If you're referring to my comment that it probably won't be better than Led Zep's 4th, well, that is definitely not "writing off" the new Radiohead album. Probably no album in history has been better than Led Zep's 4th album. (apologies to Ten, OK Computer)

I do agree that it seems like some people are quickly judging this album.
