I've no idea what that means prism :D

My advice is to leave them to it... unless they've specifically asked you to take over... in which case don't leave em to it :D

    Have fun though
    The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
    Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
    Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
    Chicago 07? And love
    What a different life
Had I not found this love with you

wow, I'm really getting places with the bands... the one we wanted have come down to just above our budget (still doable though) and others are quoting the same price. One band have just quoted 500euro lol... I might just get someone to check them out. Original bands are still coming in cheapest though which is a little sad :(

Unknown original bands are usually cheaper because they are trying to build a following, so the exposure is almost more important then the money they receive. Cover bands don't have much potential to become famous, so they are usually more worried about money.

For a wedding, I think a cover band would go over better (unless the original band is PJ!)

I reckon I agree... BUT now it's possible I could have an original band AND a cover band  or else just go with the cheap cover band and have great flowers lol... ah the options are endless.

Nah, I didn't mean it to sound like I thought you were taking over :) that makes sense now. Sounds like a mess :) but once it comes together at the end, that's the main thing! :D

we booked the restaurant for our rehearsal dinner. One less thing to worry about!

Next will be the wedding rings, then, we need to get our invitations finalized.

One thing Sian and Helen won't have to worry about. Think rehersal dinners are a US thing :?

I'd never heard of them until Ross' in Friends
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

We follow everything thar Ross did...he is our wedding guide!
    :)

The rehearsal dinner serves as a way to "honor" the out of town guests and the wedding party. We are doing it at an English restaurant. My fiance's friends are big drinkers, but most of my friends are not, so, the bar tab should be about average!

I always get her name right.....to make sure of this, I pause and think for a second before I mention her name. Better that then calling her someone else's name

We are gonna serve fish & chips, but to keep costs low, we are gonna have the chef make it without fish...just deepfry the batter!

  • Ok, I kinda feel like we need some sort of support group  as I know I'm not the only one getting married soon... 8 months to go and I've a feeling there's stuff I HAVE to be doing now... but there's just so much of it to do that I can't really think about each individual thing... just how much I have to do. And I'm just not getting things for as cheap as I thought I'd get them :D

So far I've got the man, the dress, the venue and the necklace! So how's everyone elses plans coming along? Any tips or suggestions or advice? :)

do some games at the wedding. like the one where the groom is blind-folded and has gloves on, and has to go down a row of sitting bridesmaids, bride, etc., and feel each leg! and then he has to guess at the end which one is his bride.

or you could do a newlywed game with you and your hubz and 2 other newlywed couples. love the Newlywed Game!
  • I haven't been here properly for ages... What have I missed? :D

Do you get the Game Show Network over there in Europe? They have a new version on with Carnie Wilson as the host. Basically, they go through like 3 rounds or so. The first the guys answer 3 questions about their mates and then the wives come back and answer the same questions to see if it matches the other's response. Then the wives do the same, and so on. I'll try to find a clip for you on youtube.

    here's part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydrX_Rv2Q0Q
    part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23foVH4w1Js
    part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5UeeemPtJ4

you might have to come up with some more wedding-all ages appropriate questions if you decide to go that route. maybe its not a good idea for a wedding, but more fun for couples night out type of thing.?

 Ya don't say! One just said his wife needs to work on her bj's  eh... no... lol. :D

I was thinking of a game where we ask people questions about the random strangers at their table... so they have to get to know them. But maybe not!

Our wedding is 4 weeks away! Yesterday was the bridal shower, so it all feels so real now!

We ordered 150 printed pint glasses to give out as wedding favors.

They have a mod target, with the wording" Diane and Joe's Pub, santa Monica, California, est. November 14, 2010"

What is your next big step, Helen?

Oh wow Joe, it must be getting really exciting now

I got my bridesmaid dresses  and cos I left them a few days, I managed to save myself £80 as they were further reduced  so that's sorted now too.

I'm trying to organise the wedding course at the mo and have to get our baptism certs and letters of freedom and that's the 'legal' stuff covered I think!

We booked the honeymoon to Mexico too :D

Wow, sounds like you have been busy!

We hired/rented my tuxedo last night. Our RSVP "deadline" is monday, so once we have everyones' replies, we will start to sort out table assignments.

We meet with our DJ the week after next, so we have to finish our music selections ( I printed out a list of New Wave bands from the 80s to use as a guide. My fiance' still needs to come up with her list). Our DJ (Richard Blade from KROQ) was a popular radio personality in L.A. in the 1980s, so hopefully our guests get a thrill when they see/hear that it is him!

A friend of ours owns a local music venue, so she is printing out actual "tickets" for our wedding that will be used as escort cards.

We are going a bit overboard in "customizing" our wedding!

Haha... sounds like it  although if I'd friends like that, I'd be calling in a few favours I reckon. I don't have much of an imagination so can't really customise it or it would be a bit of a mess  but I'd love to be able to. You must be having a lot of fun doing things like that though. Sounds like you're equally involved in everything?

Shite, we haven't even sent out our invitations yet... that's this weekends job :) but it might take a bit longer than that.

I work in a very non-imaginative job, so planning our wedding is giving me the chance let 150 people experience my creativity whether they like it or not!

My fiance' and I have done most of the planning together, except for creating the website and choosing her wedding gown....I let her do that! :)

My fiance' has been stresing about some of the pending details, so I use that as motivation to get everything sorted out as far in advance as possible!

I will try to post an image of our invite!
