I work in a very non-imaginative job, so planning our wedding is giving me the chance let 150 people experience my creativity whether they like it or not!
My fiance' and I have done most of the planning together, except for creating the website and choosing her wedding gown....I let her do that!
My fiance' has been stresing about some of the pending details, so I use that as motivation to get everything sorted out as far in advance as possible!
I will try to post an image of our invite!
I work in a non-imaginative job too... but that's cos I'm non imaginative After a week or two of calm, I'm starting to stress a bit again... we really need to get the invites out lol... although they ARE designed... just need to print em, cut em and post em! We've reserved next week for it... although we do that every week. At least I've been saving a bit of money on the budget recently though.

Most of our wedding is sorted. In fact, the only things left to do are:
Wedding rings
Suits
Ordering flowers
Making invites and getting them out
Ordering bridesmaid dresses
Making some table decorations
I'm gonna be the most chilled out bride in the world
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
So my best fried comes into my work tonight and shows me her hand
YEAH... she's getting hitched... been with her guy for 7 years so we knew it was coming but it still feels surreal that it's happened!!
AND I'M THE MAID OF HONOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!
the last time i went to a wedding was when i was like, 5...
now i'm the M.O.H.! What the heck!
Any words of advice??!!?!
I feel like i have to watch Made of Honor and 17 Dresses to educate myself here....

It's so nice to pop in here and read the wedding stuff. Didn't do the big wedding thing so I'm enjoying it vicariously through this thread (and someone at work who is getting married next summer).
Yeah invites Helen  ... get a couple of your bridesmaids together to help with the envelope stuffing
Oh we've had plenty of offers of help... but we've just had to get ourselves sorted out  Printed out about 30 yesterday so that's a good start... should get them done over the next week... really

We got some stuff for trial invites last weekend (calligraphy pen, stamp, recycled paper etc) so i'll get a few made, choose a favourite and cost them up over the next week or so

Wow, you ARE organised... can you do my wedding please? Like all of it!
MY DRESS IS NEARLY THERE oh the excitement is killing me lol, it will be in the shop by the end of the week apparently so I might pop in some day at lunch next week to have a look and say hi
We've got half the invites printed... getting there!
Our venue are brilliant... I love them! I hope they're not going into receivership or anything cos they're being so helpful and great with everything. They've now agreed to swap the starters for evening food (cos we already have a soup course anyway).

Why would they go into receivership? :?
When the dress gets to the shop, will you be having another fitting? When will the dress actually leave the shop and into your grubby mitts?
Some of my jewellery arrived last night, once again (and I don't know how) I've got a complete match with my dress! My hair comb matches perfectly!
I'm unsure about my earrings though :(

I finally got my headband yesterday and I'm trying to figure out what I was thinking :? not sure I like it at all
I'll be trying it on Thursday (have my appointment) and then I don't really know what happens, think most people have a fitting about 6 weeks before the wedding for the final alterations... but I've never done this before so not really sure.
I was 'kinda' joking about the receivership thing... cos everywhere seems to be closing these days so it's hard not to be paranoid about places you've paid a LOT of money to for deposits and all that.
I've agreed to let my dad go ahead and book whatever car he wants since he keeps bringing it up so it seems to be important to him lol.

This is where I will be going next year to get married.
My future wife and I will be making a big party out of it.
This is what my husband and I did. We did take about 15 people with us though. If I had to do it over again I would do it the same way except instead of buying a package at a casino I would do one of the smaller chapels on the strip. Just personal preferance, though. All went smoothly and we had a great ceremony.
Had my dress fitting today... it's lovely and picked out my free veil... it too is lovely but my lovely lovely necklace doesn't match the dress so now I've to get a new one... still need shoes too  ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
Woohoo to the dress and veil! Now you've tried on the dress again do you have a better idea of the style/type of shoe? Feel free to let me know if you want me to go on a shoe hunt again
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

I have been super brilliant today though... we have a photography budget of 500 euro... which is absolutely fuck all. The better photographers average around 2000 in their quotes. We were quoted 500 by a couple of places for a basic package but their photos are shite. Last night I simply emailed all the top photographers and complimented them on their portfolio and said we have a budget of 500 and could they do anything... one of them said yes and now we've got an appointment to meet him he's one of Irelands top photographers and he's brilliant. So even if he only hangs around for a couple of hours we can ask everyone to take plenty of pics but at least we'll have several top class pics though so I'm well chuffed... I deserve a cup of tea for that!

My partner and I got married in 2009 after being with each other for 10 years. We decided to knick off overseas to Fiji though because everything is sooooo expensive. For the venue (big chapel overlooking the sea) the flowers (big bouquet of purple frangapanis and other decos), the photographer, the cake, air fares and accomadation turned out to be less expensive than having what we wanted at home!!!! It's just so expensive hey? Congrats by the way!!! How long have u guys been together?

if you're paying for you're own wedding the most important place to stick your money is the photographer. nowadays everybody's uncle with a cellphone cam thinks that they are a photographer but there is a lot more to it than just pointing and clicking. in fact, your friends and family will do plenty of those for you without asking.
that being said the basic reasoning is that while your guests will remember the dj and food, you will remember the pictures, both hanging in the living room staring at you every day, and bundled in book you will be forced to open every time you have guests.
i have too many friends who used the family friend for theirs and regret it; my brother used a professional a year or so ago and in a few short months i will be doing the same. it will be the best money we ever spent.

We finally got our 'discounted' room rates for the hotel and it's 70euro per person per night... considering the sale at the mo is 69euro per room per night, it's not much of a discount but I think most people seem to be booked up already... and most are staying in the hotel which is pretty cool . What are your travel plans or are some of you travelling together? Or do you know yet?

Fiji sounds like it would be amazing... was it as beautiful as you imagined? My cousin got married in Tahiti and her pics are gorgeous. We're together just over three years now so not really a long time for most people!
Red, Dylan was booked... yep, I asked . I'll pm ya... I don't really wanna go giving his name yet until we've got it booked and he probably wouldn't like me publicising if/when we get him so cheap.

Anyone got any good wedding gift list ideas  people have been asking and I really have no clue whatsoever. The bottom drawer looks half decent or maybe trailfinders (but we've already got our honeymoon booked and nearly paid for... but we may want to plan a holiday later in the year anyway). We have everything we need really and I don't really wanna be tied to any certain store cos I'll end up picking stuff just cos we feel like we should. Is there a better way to go about this?

Are you planning on having any building work etc done on the house? B&Q vouchers?
We don't own the house so ideally we'd like to start moving towards a deposit I spose... but there are still people who will want to buy us gifts and I completely understand that. I just can't think of any things we might want/need so people can buy us a gift  . I'd rather they just pick something for us then. Ah, I don't know

we are in the same sortof boat, so what we did is went to the local megamart (target) and did their registry - but picked just a few things; some things cheap, some things uber expensive. Basically without officially saying it, we just said, if you wanted to buy something here it is, but really we just want some help with our down-payment towards the house we are thinking of buying...
