With the PJ show rumors for May, I have Tobacco Road booked the morning of the second Raleigh show. Trying to play Pine Needles the day in between but non-resort guests can’t book until 30 days in advance. If anyone is interested let me know, maybe we can get a PJ group for a round. Not planning on Pinehurst since it’s a 2 day stay minimum and expensive as hell. Rather pay just the green fee at Pine and Tobacco

I kinda forgot he had another back surgery. Dude should just play this TGL screen golf thing and then wait until he can take a cart on the senior tour.
Majors are overrated. Harmon won recently. Wyndham won recently. And they disappear. Scottie's 9x win season is much more impressive than Xander's 2 majors this year. Just how I feel.
Saw an Instagram about Justin Thomas driving a 300 yard green. Big whoop. Technology making it impossible to hook and slice a driver.

You can hook it, but you don't practice every day. The technology allows pros to swing as fast as they possibly want and still have a large margin of error for hit on the club face.

Yes, yes I know. There's no arguing that 20 years ago the driver was the hardest club to hit and now it's just about the easiest.
Although some of this high launch technology on the 3W makes that even easier to strike, I think.
It was nice seeing LIV go down last night. I think I saw Skins is coming back next year. I'll take more of this offseason stuff on random night's of the week for sure.

Yeah I enjoyed seeing them get smoked, even if it was the lowest stakes imaginable. Watched some of it but fell asleep as it was about to end.
I used to play a par-3 course pretty regularly when I was younger.
A friend and I tried playing a big course once, and it did not end well. We kept hearing people yell "pick up the ball after 7 strokes!"
The course marshal finally booted us after numerous complaints!
Yeah, that is part of learning. Number of strokes shouldn't matter, but everyone regardless of skill level needs to get done with their round in four hours or less. We pay for a reasonable amount of time on the course. I have played golf for 20 years and will pick up the ball at some points in the interest of time (and my own sanity).

Get back out there.
But then at the end, you really don't know what you're score was. Doesn't that bother you? It would drive me insane. More insane than getting a 10 on a hole. Or, at least equally as insane.

Depends on the day. If the round is a bust I would pick up to keep the pace. If just one bad hole play it out. If I am above triple bogey I can’t post higher for handicap purposes so not cheating on the handicap.
score doesn’t matter as much to me. How I am hitting matters more.

Yeah my league says if we're 3 over to pick up to save time. That's really the only time I pick up.

This is where I am too. I can grind out a 78 and play like total ass and be pissed. Other days I will shoot an 81 with much better ball striking and maybe I just miss some putts or get some bad breaks, but I will feel much better about my game. All about ball striking, not score for me. I'm not making a living out there.
Gotta love the Sentry, although I miss the Tournament of Champions--had a nice ring to it.
I know some of you guys are not interested in it, but I am looking forward to seeing what this Tiger League looks like. The clips from the Foreplay guys look cool.
Played on New Years day before the frigid air came in--second consecutive round in the 80's. Feeling good headed into this hibernation. Can't wait for Spring....
I would love to get back to consistent 80's golf. I'll give TGL a shot. They have a shot clock. Should be fast paced. Pro golf is dying outside of main 6 events (4 majors, players and Ryder Cup).
Just heard Max Homa talk about his new driver. Paraphrasing, “I wouldn’t put in new clubs if I didn’t think it would make me better. I toed a couple drivers and it didn’t hurt me. That is what you are looking for in clubs.”
Good, good. That is what you want in a sport. To get better just by buying a new driver.

I'm pretty sure he practices now and then too.
I'm sure sticky gloves have not helped receivers in football over the years lol

Are you guys arguing that pros should use different drivers or sticks than the common person?

I think bootlegger is arguing that golfers should revert to clubs from the 80's or something. I am pointing out that all sports have made advancements to assist the athletes.
I get technology advancements. Quality control is better. Durability is better. But at the pro level these advancements at some point led to obsoletion of golf courses for the pro game, and sucked the creativity out of the pro game. The pro game is a putting contest each week.
The pros have always played different equipment than 95% of amateurs. 95% of amateurs would quit if they played blades. They use Game Improvement irons. So yes, let's tighten the margin of error on pro clubs and pro golf balls.
A one handed football catch is cool, but I know the glove helps and so it isn't as impressive to me. They can say it doesn't, but every receiver wears them for a reason. PGA Tour Pros bomb drives because they know the equipment today will cover their mishits (albeit small margins of error) that weren't covered up 10 years ago. Not much really impresses me watching the PGA tour. It comes down to who has the hot hand putting.

I can't commit to anything now, but closer to the date may be interested. Haven't played Pine Needles, TR or Mid-Pines.
