I can't believe there is no Blackhawks thread here. Huge win last night over the Coyotes to take the lead in the Western Conference. That would have been brutal to be swept by Phoenix for the season. Has Niemi finally proved that he's going to be the guy come playoff time??

I can't wait for these playoffs to get started...playoff hockey is the best!

Playoff hockey is definitely the best. Unfortunately, it doesn't look too good for my Rangers right now. At least if they don't go on a run and make the playoffs they can finally fire their GM Glen Sather. Don't think it would happen, but it's a thought.

Since no one started one until you did i think you should just have started a thread:
    CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS
That way your thread would be valid for years and still have the ability to revise anything anyone has posted. Just a thought and BTW the Hawks look damn good this year as they did last year. I used to keep up with them but when was the last time they were in the Stanley Cup?

    Peace

I split season tickets with three other guys. Hopefully they do better this year. Win it all. Niemi looked great last night, and I don't think the loss of Campbell should hurt too much.

Early 90s the Hawks got swept by the Penguins in the Finals...I think it was 91-92.

Hopefully Niemi can keep it up. I really don't care who our goalie is as long as one of these guys steps up.

I do think the loss of Campbell is going to hurt more than people think. He's a veteran with playoff experience and he's great on the power play. Hopefully he can be back for the playoffs...I think maybe 2nd round I have read.

Off topic again, but can someone search for the "Buffalo Sabres" Thread?

I am horribly unskilled at searching forums and I dont want to create a new thread. A little history in there.

    Thanks.

i don't see the Hawks winning the cup this year. IMO, they aren't gritty enough for playoff hockey.

    we'll see.

That was not pretty last night...it looks like Niemi is going to be the guy going down the stretch here. Huet just looks completely lost out there.

good question...but don't think it will be the hawks.

i think out east, you have to look at NJ, Wash and Pitt. I don't follow the west close enough, but i'd go with SJ

How abou tthose Central Division Champion Blackhawks!!! First time in 17 years. Hawks are playing well the past few games...hopefully they're ready for a hot streak as the playoffs are about to get going here.

    Congrats on the Division win.

Looking pretty good for the playoffs. Should be a manageable 1st round unless they play Detroit who nobody wants to draw. Other than them its likely to be LA or Nashville, who Chicago has played pretty well against this season.
After the 1st round, they could draw Vancouver which would be a classic and also be the "actual" Western Conference Final (unless Detroit makes it to the WCF also).

As far as the East goes, the only team who can beat Chicago IMO is Pittsburgh.

That would be a great rematch. Chicago vs. Pittsburgh for the Cup. The scariest team the Hawks could face in the Western Conf. in my opinion is the Detroit Redwings. They are playing excellent hockey right now. If they get them in the first round, it could be the best first round series in quite some time. Hopefully Niemi keeps playing like he has been the past few games. I'll be at the gam Wed. vs. St. Louis. My last tickets untill the playoffs. Should be a physical one.

    Go Hawks.

Detroit would be a nightmare draw in the first round. I'm hoping for Nashville....that would be a 5-6 game series at most.

I'd love to see another series with Vancouver. After last year's battle plus the games from this regular season, Hawks-Nucks has turned into quite a little rivalry here.

Haha, seriously, Sather must have some inside info. He talked so much trash while he was with Edmonton about what he could do if he had the NY payroll. He has been here for 10 years and has had one decent season. He came into a bad situation but just made it worse. But I still can't believe that if the Rangers win tomorrow they will be in the playoffs. It seemed impossible just few weeks ago. If they do win and have to play the Capitals it will be real tough. But hey you never know. LETS GO RANGERS.

Well, I guess it will be the Hawks and Predators in the first round. Series starts on Wednesday I believe. At least the distance travelled won't be as bad as last year(Calgary and Vancouver).

    Go Hawks

Well , hope you all enjoy playoff hockey. My Rangers just missed. Seems like they are starting to turn into the old Red Sox. They can't just lose. They find a way to break your heart. Guess I will just have to settle for Yankee baseball.

Tough loss yesterday. Would have loved the 1 seed, but cant complain about a season where we set a franchise record for points. Bring on Nashville!

True. I guess I'm just saying no need to complain about the 2 seed and a great regular season.

Patrick Kane has decided to go with a playoff mullet, since his beard is so patchy.

Enjoy the games! Hopefully tonight is the beginning of a long playoff run. I'd say anything short of winning the Conference would be a disappointment.

I agree. A little under 12 hours to puck drop. That means a little under 10 hours to first drink. I can't wait. At least the prices of beer at the game should sober me up enough to get up tomorrow and head to the bar to watch the Bulls lose their first playoff game.

Detroit, San Jose, and Washington all lost their first games. Awesome.
