I had tickets to see Radiohead there. I got to the parking lot line at like 6:30pm. Didn't get parked and into the show until 10pm. ...PJ also did a "soft opening" there if I remember the last time they played there. Glad they're nearby, but it's the most Eco-Unfriendly and mismanaged venue on the east coast.

Get to the parking lot by 2pm, or risk missing some of the show.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

1.5 hours drive north and slightly west of Richmond.

...but with their parking lot management, it's actually closer to 6 hours drive.

It's a very very very remote venue that you drive by farmland to get to, though the venue is a traditional amphitheater. 100% of those who attend will need to travel by car, as opposed to DC proper where everyone could take mass transit.

yep, riot act tour july 1 2003. they opened with small town and off he goes. there's one effing road to get in, so def leave yourself PLENTY of time. buzzcocks opened for them that time....they were pretty solid.

i'm taking the gf to MSG 2 (hopefully) and a buddy to this one. got him hooked on PJ when i brought him to the verizon center in 08.

I might have to make this trip. I've always wanted to see the boys play outside, but they seem to only like arenas in places I can make it to...nothing like an outside show during May :)

  • I hope to make it!

I was there in 2003 and don't remember having any problems at all. I left Lynchburg around 2:00 and it's about a 3:45 minute drive and we got there like an hour before the show, so I have no idea why some had such a bad experience.

Will be my 1st time there.
I'm off of work, Wife is taking off.
    So parking is a PAIN?
You say get there early. What time do the lots open? Are you able to tailgate without issues?

I got into there without too much of a wait for PJ, and that was a sunny day.

Radiohead was a rainy day, and oh man, did that add several hours of waiting at the parking lot.

i've been there a few times. Last was 311 summer of 08 and i don't remember any problem with parking. There's def traffic getting in but hopefully people will trickle (esp b/c 10cers will be getting their tix) in instead of stream all at one time. That's what happened in 03..1/2 the place decided to try and make their way in all w/in like 15 mins.

Anyway, as far as tailgating, you do have to be careful b/c there are cops/abc reps walking around. Just don't act like an idiot and you'll be fine. they know people are going to drink, and drink heavily but it's only the donkies who get completely s-faced and act stupid that get in trouble. i've NEVER had a problem trying to tailgate.

I'm also wondering where the fuck Bristow is. I know someone said near Richmond, but I searched on mapquest & it said there are two Bristow's in VA. Anyone know what county it's in so I will know if I am near enough to attend this show - since they've skipped NC ... AGAIN!!

I wonder if it would be easier to get in coming from the east on Wellington, instead of coming from 66/29.

I'm in, and I HATE this venue

one road in, one road out

give yourself plenty of time to get there, the traffic sucks. When they played there in 2006 they started with a slower set to give people time to get in. but they broke out Why Go that night after a looonnng time not being played
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a
    ride"!

For what it's worth, I got right in to the venue around 6:30-7pm in 2003. No major delays or problems, including the 10-C line.

Getting out was a bit of a pain, but not as bad as, say, Mansfield.
