Everything not forbidden is compulsory and eveything not compulsory is forbidden. You are free... free to do what the government says you can do.
  • Claiming that no one can have a definitive view of an objective reality is a claim of reality itself. How does that work?? No one can know a true reality but the guy who says that no one can know a true reality?

No it is not a "claim of reality." That seems to be ruh-tarded... sorry but abstract statements don't impress me.

Just goes back to this fact: Simply because you find it hard to accept that in the smallest of odds or more random of chance, these circumstances have played out how they have to create the universe, earth, and all in it, does not mean it is irrelevant. We have answers to these questions and those we do not, we are slowly filling in the details on the story and outline of where we all are from. Once again, just because you find it ridiculous that this sequence or the odds of it occurred, has no baring or significance to a god existing. In fact, whatever slim chance you weigh of this evolution of things of occurring, the existence of god is far beyond that in mathematical terms. There's not a single shred of proof of god's existence other than your belief he does... and as I've stated earlier, this is no different from you not being able to disprove my belief that big foot walks the earth and lives with pink unicorns and green leprechauns.

Was it random chance that a 15 sheep herder boy in the 1940’s was "searching for his LOST sheep" and from throwing rocks into a cave heard pottery breaking only to find the dead sea scrolls? These documents make up the entire Old Testament minus one book.

They solidify that God spoke with men and he used them to prophesy things of the coming messiah well before Jesus came. Jesus came and fulfilled those prophecies. (http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_did_Isai ... he_Messiah) Ask yourself who they he could be speaking of other than christ. Not Mirtha Gern because like you said he came well before Christ! He is the one true path to God. A peasant man who owned nothing and was formally uneducated yet had profound knowledge of what God wanted for us is the center piece for the human race? The most famous man on the planet, love him or hate him. This isn’t random chance it’s an act of the True God. He existed and did the things people said he did whether you believe it or not. You are right. I have faith in this and he said that’s all you need. Imagine... what in life do you not have to work for by your own accord? He offers the gift of eternal life for simply believing in him giving up your wishes for His.

So because of the sins of one man all men have fallen short of the glory of God, but because of the sacrifice of one man all men can come to glory with God.

I am thriving in the moment.. for God, my creator. How is that so wrong that I should be told it is? If you share in the discovery then read and discover what Jesus says about His Father. You obviously believe in some sort of God. Don’t you owe it to yourself to find out the true God? If the followers of Jesus and Jesus himself were true that would mean that you are wrong in your view of God. Wouldn’t it be wise to at least put some effort into finding out without preconceived notions because of the sins of men and the roman catholic church?

YOU AREN'T LISTENING. NO ONE IS TELLING YOU IT'S WRONG TO SEEK GOD. WE HAVE NO PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS OF GOD. WE SEARCHED, AND FOUND WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR. SO DID YOU. THE DIFFERENCE IS, WE ARE NOT SITTING HERE TELLING YOU THAT OUR WAY IS THE ONE TRUE WAY. THAT'S ARROGANT.

Okay maybe not so much as told wrong for believing but i've been made to be a fool for believing.

So you dont have a problem with believing; You are a sinner and your soul is seperated from God, God says you need to accept Jesus to be saved from your sins, but also you need to live accordingly to his teachings? You dont have a problem with that, just the person telling you that. Is that correct?

I think believing is the birth of ignorance.

Your god says I need to accept Jesus and live according to his teachings... not my version of god.

I don't have a "problem" with someone who believes these things... I just find it absurd. I can learn from anyone's reality tunnel, including yours.

See I feel honestly feel that anyone is entitle to believe as they want, but just keep it to yourself. Whether you believe in a religion or god or not. But people can't or won't leave well enough alone. It has to be politicized or jammed down the throats of people in society. Many may feel this is not a reflection of their particular belief system or actions, but as a whole, this is what is done.

    Preacher man, don't tell me,
    Heaven is under the earth.
    I know you don't know
    What life is really worth.
    It's not all that glitters is gold;
'Alf the story has never been told:
So now you see the light, eh!
Stand up for your rights. come on!

    Most people think,
Great god will come from the skies,
    Take away everything
    And make everybody feel high.
But if you know what life is worth,
You will look for yours on earth:
And now you see the light,
You stand up for your rights. jah!

We sick an' tired of-a your ism-skism game -
Dyin' 'n' goin' to heaven in-a Jesus' name, lord.
    We know when we understand:
Almighty god is a living man.
You can fool some people sometimes,
But you can't fool all the people all the time.
So now we see the light (what you gonna do?),
We gonna stand up for our rights! (yeah, yeah, yeah! )

    So you better:
Get up, stand up! (in the morning! git it up! )
Stand up for your rights! (stand up for our rights! )
    Get up, stand up!
Don't give up the fight! (don't give it up, don't give it up! )
Get up, stand up! (get up, stand up! )

I do too... But all we KNOW is the man laid down some great music, and will be remembered for that.

I know I'll live on in the hearts and minds of people I love. Anymore than that, I'd consider a bonus, but I'm content with that.

Another "I hate God because my life sucks" thread

Who cares....let people believe in what they want to believe....we live in a free country to practice or not practice our own religion, nothing is more obnoxious then some Jesus freak preaching to people about their take on God or some Atheist out to shit on everyone's beliefs because they are pissed at mom and dad for making them go to Sunday school.

Religion wouldn't still be an issue if people just practice mutual respect for each other...its a privet matter, no need to broadcast it.

Why do people start these threads, its like beating a dead horse on a very old issue that we should be past by now.

well he did what he did all while high all the time as you put it, don't think he would change a thing but that is an assumption on my part, many think he was ahead of his time

no one said take advice from him did they... he sang Get Up from his political and Rastafarian belief system..... HIS belief system.... just one persons take on things, gleam from it what you will

Don't you look at me so smug
    And say I'm going bad.

I'm sorry if you think I was referring to you, but you missed my point.

Its hypocritical to attract people for having a religious view, its no different then an atheist being attacked for not believing in God. More specifically, its a hatred for Christianity, you never see these threads on other religions, which are no more hypocritical or controlling.

Its also pretty arrogant for some people to think they are smarter then most for not believing in a God. Faith isn't based on intelligence, its an emotional.

The only reason these threads get started is because people are afraid of authority, and in their eyes church is an authority out to control and brain wash them. Come on, this isn't the 1400's, the idea of the church or any church in America forcing there will on people is ridiculous, you people are adults. You have a choice...and no one here can make you believe in God or not.

Just respect people and let them believe or don't believe, why shit on someone?

no, I didn't think you were referring to me specifically, I just chose to comment on yours. I know it's a very long read, but if you had, you would have seen the majority of the agnostic/atheist approach was just the opposite of what you said........we are fully aware that it is impossible for anyone to know the truth about our existence or the origin of man/earth/universe. it is the christians here that are trying to tell us how to live our lives, that they know everything, blah blah blah.

To say that people have an anger towards the church because we're afraid of authority is ridiculous. Then I wouldn't have a job, have gone to school, listened to my parents/grandparents, or respect law enforcement. We are not afraid of anything. Just the opposite. ELB has stated time and again, among others, that the reason they are religious is out of fear of the eternal torment if they don't accept jesus. If we were afraid, we WOULD be religious, not the other way around. If I was afraid, I'd avoid my brother like the plague. Just the opposite. He respects my position, and I respect his. I can't say the same for ELB or a few others here. They keep trying to "save us".

I have, as well as Cosmo and Gern, told the believers that we completely respect their right to their faith, however, the only thing we ask is that they acknowledge that they don't KNOW, that they BELIEVE, and that there is a difference. No such acknowledgement, so as far as I was concerned the thread was pretty much dead.

I'm pretty sure you are now up to speed. Any questions?

ELB was saying the same thing. We were somehow attacking him simply because we won't see his point of view. He asked us to debunk his question, so that's what we were doing, then he whined about it. Wah.

No, you never see these threads on other religions, and there's a very simple explanation as to why: most of us on this board are from Christian-dominant regions. So no, you won't see people debunking the Koran on here. I would think that's obvious.

None of us hate Christianity. Obviously you haven't read the posts. Just the opposite. You'll understand my annoyance at someone who comes along, reading 1% of the posts and think they know the meat of the discussion.

Just ignore it...you're an adult. Who cares what other people believe.

My ex was from a mormon family, they wouldn't except me because I was a catholic. I don't go to church, but have my own belief system. I don't broadcast it to people nor push on people. They tried that shit on me but I just ignored it. Likewise I've met some people who are atheist, who looked down on people who have any belief system, almost like they think they are smarter for not believe in God, kind of arrogent.

I just have a hard time believe people still drag this issue out....

I think a part of it is that some people are just devout and won't accept others beliefs as even an option - it threatens them. And the other issue is the broadcasting in society - issues aren't merely left to accept where people can it be, it's the opposite - they are constantly jammed down the throats til it polarizes and separates.

    CONservative governMENt

Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a law-breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. - Louis Brandeis
