Hey all...just got my turntable and records back in the house after a big renovation and a few of them are covered in what looks like fingerprints, smudges and swirl marks that come off with a lint free cloth. They've been sitting in their typical conditions for the last 7 or 8 months and have remained untouched. Not long before they had to be packed away I went through the whole collection and ran them through a SpinClean.

Any idea what the culprit could be? I've played a couple in said condition and they seem to be fine listening wise, but I'm pretty annoyed at how sloppy they appear.

Spun my new vinyl this weekend - Coldplay- Parachutes - Foo Fighters - Sonic Highways and The Colour and Shape all sound great - Nora Jones - Come Away with me and The Flaming Lips - Soft Bulletin both have non fill issues - now time to test Pop Market and Merchindise Outlets return/refund policies.....

In both instances the retailer is sending replacements. I have a feeling they will be noisey again.......

anyone remember when it was cheaper to buy a record on vinyl than on CD?
seems they have switched places now. I haven't bought a CD in ages but checking a lot of "indie" bands pages-
Vinyl goes for 19-20 bucks. CDs for 11-12 bucks.
    I miss the 90s.

There was a re-release that contained the stereo and Mono versions
came out a year or so after the Elevators box-set. probably around 2012/2013. shouldn't be too hard to find for a good price.

sounds really good for second generation(since the original master was stolen/lost).

I bought DMB Live trax 4 which is a $100 box set. It came with an offset label (there was a pic somehwere above.. very bad). I emailed them and within 5 min they replied saying "we're sending you a new one, you can keep the old one. Sorry about that". I had the new one in two days. I sent the old one to Monkeewrench. It only affected about 5 seconds of playing on one side out of 8 sides. All else being equal, I'll always use Newbury.

Plus their colored vinyl is top notch. My experience is they use the best press in production for theirs. I'm super picky about my records and never buy one if it isn't a material increase over the cd. They have not disappointed me yet.

I've also had great experiences with Newbury. I'm very picky as well.

No but Joshua Tree 2007 remaster is back in Stock. I have been looking for a year and suddenly is available. I bought from import_cd today. I have the original press but word is this is much more dynamic.

War... that's the remaster I'm waiting for. The original is muddled but the music is so great. Bullet the Blue Sky should have been on that album. I'm not a U2 expert, but the style seems more in line with War.

But yes, my interest in U2 ends with Achtung. That was a good album but it started the transformation that left me behind. I love political music.
