but tonight is another story, no ?
I think its likely we could pound on Pedro a bit tonight
maybe.....but Hairston and Molina can't be much of an "upgrade." (altho Swisher is lost)

Did anybody else want to kill Joe Buck and Tim McCarver more than usual during game 2? And it wasn't just because the Phillies were on the losing end. These two were just extra retarded tonight.

The world of TV ratings! Yay! The fact of the matter is we didn't hit. If we did a 1/4 more than we did, then we would be fine. BUT. Everythings aiight anyway. We came outta the dirty Bronx with a split, and I'm perfectly fine with that. 3 of the 5 game in the series are in the 2-1-5, we'll show these turds how to be a real crowd. If you told me Pedro was going to give me 13+ innings and gives up 3 ER, I'll take it all day. Only thing I would've done different was hit and run with Rollins and Shane on base with Chase up, but that's totally up in the air as it is. The winner of the night was Pedro in his absolutely MONEY suit during the press conference after the game. Along with his explanation of smiling after he came off the mound. Absolutely amazing.
I wouldn't say the Yankees were Pedro's Padres tonight, but here's a sample from one hitter:
“I tell you what, he may not have 96 to 98 he did back then when he was a little bit younger but his command was every bit as good as it was back then,” Jerry Hairston Jr. said. “He was painting pitches at my knees, inner half (of the plate) - basically at will on a couple of guys.
“He’s always been a great pitcher and for him to adjust and adjust to what he’s got now, that’s a credit to him. He’s really pitched well this postseason and it was a tough win for us.”

Pedro Martinez became the 21st pitcher to start a World Series game in both leagues. He made his sixth postseason start against the Yankees. That ties him for second place on the all-time list with Lew Burdette, Burt Hooton and Dennis Leonard. His next postseason start against the Yankees will tie him with Carl Erskine and Art Nehf for first place on that list.
When he allowed a run in the fourth, it was the first in 17.0 innings during the postseason dating to Game 7 of the 2004 ALCS.
A.J. Burnett's nine strikeouts were the most by a Yankee in a post-season game since Mike Mussina fanned 9 on
October 21, 2003,
Mariano Rivera made his 21st career World Series appearance tonight, moving past Mike Stanton into 2nd place on the all-time list, one behind Whitey Ford. He extended his own career records with his 10th World Series save and 38th overall post-season save. Tonight was his 4th 2-inning save in the World Series, with each of his last three WS saves coming in that fashion. With the 2.0 scoreless innings tonight, he lowered his career World Series ERA to 1.09.
Of his last 9 overall World Series appearances, 6 have been 2.0 innings in length.
Rivera's 39 pitches tonight were the most he has ever thrown in a World Series game. His previous
high was 35 in Game 3 of the 1996 WS against Atlanta.
This was Alex Rodriguez’s fourth game with three strikeouts this season
(regular and post-season) and three of those games have against Philadelphia.
The Yankees fanned 12 times tonight, the team’s most in a World Series game since 12 on October 21, 2003,
Game 3 at Florida. With the 10 strikeouts last night, it marks just the 2nd time that New York has fanned 10 or more times in back-to-back World Series games, the other being Games 4 (10) and 5 (13) in 1964 against St. Louis.
Ryan Howard struck out 4 times tonight, the 12th time that a batter has recorded at least 4 strikeouts in a World Series game. The last was Colorado’s Brad Hawpe in Game 1 of the 2007 World Series against Boston.
This marks the 54th time that the World Series has been tied at 1-1 after two games.
The teams combined for 23 strikeouts tonight - two shy of the World Series record for most strikeouts.

I think the advantage goes to Andy in game 3. Our 3-4-5 hitters really cant do that much worse(Except Tex's hr),I hope Gardner will be getting playing time. I like him in NL style of play.
Thank God I dont have to watch Hamels pitch another game this year...I dont even want to see him pitch out of the bullpen..hes got to be hurt..man what a change from last season World Series...pitiful
