Which would only work if tours were announced like they were in the old days... all cities with one announcement. Because can you imagine the number of cry baby complaints if everyone went for the known cities... only to find later that their home city gets announced and they screwed the pooch and booked a flight to Los Angeles because they went for that gig.

There really is no pleasing... I am glad that none of the band members read this message board. This way, they still think we are pretty cool people.
I've always liked this idea. I'd probably make it a 2 pair limit though so you can at least see 2 shows w/ 10 c seating.NERDS!0 -

You know what you do? Split your pair with another member. Like, is that your lovely wife in your picture? Do you both have memberships? You each buy a different show... and share your tickets.
That is what most of the L.A. fans did... we paired up, one bought a pair for one night, the other for a different night and we split the tickets. The other two nights were a TicketMaster scramble.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

So here we go....hehehehe
What you are saying is....That people here would drop off because "GOD FORBID" they no longer had their seats in the first 5 rows....right???
So it isnt really "about the music' or "about the band" to those people......right???
Its just about THEM and THIER precious first row seats....right????
I say FUCK those people.....
What's wrong with this entitlement? The act of entitlement is not always a bad thing when it is just and deserved. I think it is those late to the party (i.e. new hires) who feel they are entitled to the same benefits across the board to those with 10-15 years on them, is....

It is my GF and she does not have a membership. Therefore I bought both Seattle shows. The LA shows make sense because those venues are much smaller than the normal venues that they play. In a situation like that 1 pair makes perfect sense. But if you were to announce the whole tour at once like 99% of other bands I think 2 is a fair number. A lot of the buzz around the band seems to be due to the passionate fan base and the traveling fan base. That is the reason I'd go with 2. I'm not one of the see 10 shows a tour type, so it doesn't impact me as much.

Here is the example I usually give...
in 1998, the first year of seated shows... my 139,000 series number landed me in the 3rd row of the one show I was able to purchase.

I didn't use my seniority in 2000 or 2003... but that same 139,000 number landed me in rows 12 or 14 in 2006.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

2 Pair would be good... like both the Seattle gigs for you guys... that would be good.
And I am glad about the L.A. thing... being limited to one show per member. It seemed fair to me everyone I know that lives here was cool with it... mostly because we all buddied up. Exactly. There are always ways to see the band. I was late in Joining the 10c even though I'd always been a fan (joined in 05')
But my friends and I would always see PJ shows whenever they were close i.e Portland, Seattle, & SF. I've only had to use my 10c tickets for 2 shows so far and the seats have been fine by me. That's one reason why the ticket complainers irk me so much. People should just be happy to be there. Hell, I've had some of the best times at shows that I didn't even get into like the Vic (Speedy can vouch for that one)NERDS!0 -

That's my other dream... a Fan Club Exclusive series of regional shows. In small clubs... General admission... ONE PAIR per member.
Maybe two or 3 shows per region... like 3 Showbox shows for the NorthWest.... 4 shows at the Fonda for the SouthWest... 2 show in Austin for the South... 2 shows at the Vic for Chicago... a couple of shows for the SouthEast... and a series of 4 to 6 shows in the New York area for the NorthEast.
Pick one... be happy... be happy for your fellow fans.

If you want to get rid of seniority and make seating a lottery, then let's make it a real lottery. Let's be honest, most ten club members joined because it guarantees them access to tickets to shows prior to general on-sale. So let's get rid of that guarantee, and have the entire ticket-buying process be a lottery -- maybe you'll get 10c tickets, maybe you won't. If my seniority isn't enough to get me close to the stage, then your 10c membership isn't enough to get you tickets.
This isn't what I want -- I've been to shows all over North America thanks to the ten club -- but let's see you put your money where you mouth is.
Or don't have a lottery at all -- the faster you buy your 10c tickets, the better seats you get.0 -

but, you're right, everyone should have a shot to get real close. i like the system the way it is now. if you've been a member since 92, you don't deserve to sit anywhere outside the first 5 rows, but you aren't entitled to be front and center every time.
but i too hate seeing old people in the front. zero energy. as a performer, i want the people up close to be moving and dancing when i'm singing...not standing there like some geriatric cripples. i want to feel your energy.
Well what about fans like me who wern't old enough to be there back in the day but i have seen them in (6, soon to be 8, different countries including usa) and i'm still under 20. I know i'm an extreme minority but never going to get anywhere with 356xxx :(

I guess all i can tell you is just be grateful for what you got.
When I was a kid... I loved The Who and Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath... none of whom had fan clubs and access to tickets. Still, i managed to get tickets and was happy. And I know you are also happy to get tickets... but, the fan club really does make it better. The alternative is duking it out with the scalpers on the TicketMonster.
I am EXTREMELY grateful to Pearl Jam and their Fan Club. Mostly because i have already outlived the lives of many, many bands and I know this is all going to end some day. So, I'll take whatever they are offering me today with a most sincere, "Thank You".Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

No shit....I've said before that if I found out they do read the board, I'm gonna quit. I do know that they get info from the 10c staff...I can deal with Kat/Sea & Santos reading....they know our true colors. And still love us, I hope.
We are really spoiled, you know.... look at New Zealand folks.... they've waited 11 years to see PJ! Think they'd be having this discussion?
Also...those who complained about their age when joining 10c... hubby is almost 42 and he joined in 03 and I a year later, almost 38 here. We were ignorant what 10c was really all about as a fan club.
We missed every opportunity of getting in a local show until kind fans told us what 10c was about.
We been happy since then....
people clearly have issues, but 10c do listen for suggestions/feedbacks/ideas and are always trying something new....and always always willing to listen!
honestly, Speedy....with your attitude I've been seeing and if I was single with 50xxx, I wouldn't probably want to share with you with the way you've been talking. :P
Oh shit....I just remembered that I'd remind myself not to be affected if you were involved... *slams forehead*

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Seniority is the only fair way to do this. I understand it's frustrating to everyone who joined the fan club later on (myself included 242XXX), but it is only fair that someone who has paid dues for almost twenty years get special treatment."Bombs dropping down. I love these discussions!!! There is one or two people every 5 months that feel they need to perfect the seniority rule.
I have a single low 10c ticket for Philly 10/28 (usually between the 7th and 12th rows w/ this lottery thing). I'm looking to trade it for a single 10c Philly 10/30.

PJ fans come in all forms and sizes.
I just spoke with my soon to be 14 years old daughter...she sensed I was bothered, so I explained what the argument was about on the PJ board.
She said she'd really like to see a PJ show.... she's not like us, but she likes a few songs of theirs.
If she really enjoys the show, she would like to join 10c and understands the seniority rule and also thinks the 1&2 and 9&10 randomly selected is pretty fair. She understands that her seats would be one of the most last seats offered by 10c and like everyone else, she'd want the equal opportunity for the random seats.
I'm sure many of you won't admit it, but would think she doesn't deserve to be chosen because she is not a die-hard fan (of course I am ASSuming here).
Or...my 16 years old son who is a PJ hater....and I am secretly praying to the Buddha or mother nature that he would be converted when he listens to the new record and finally wants to see PJ live...and wants to join 10c! I told him about the seniority and he also understood how the system worked.
But I also told him that there were many PJ fans that he could make friends with and swap seats, etc... always find a way.
I've seen many times here on the board that people always find a way with the help of other PJ fans.
Seriously....this PJ community is truly amazing....fans helping each other out....
