Elton John farewell tour.
In an event at New York City’s Gotham Hall on Wednesday, John announced his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, a three-year, five-continent outing that will feature more than 300 concerts, and will be the last of his career. “It’s time to come off the road so I can fully embrace the next important chapter of my life,” he…

Elvis Presley
Thoughts on him and his music? His influence? Hearing the talk of MJ the last 2 weeks, and his nickname, "King of Pop", obviously harkens back to a MJ idol, of course another person labeled the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. Elvis seems to me to be among those giants like The beatles, or Dylan, or MJ, who are so…

Albums That Remind You Of...
I hope this catches steam... figured I'd take a shot at the X days of vinyl challenge, but condense it. Below will be 15 different general themes. Each theme requires one album. My rules for this game are: -no repeating bands (Although Chris Cornell & Soundgarden are acceptable separate responses) -no greatest hits -live…

Matchbox Twenty - Should I like them?
Caught Matchbox Twenty on Live at Abbey Road last night and couldn't decide if I really liked them or thought they were a bit cliched. Maybe they can be cliched and it's ok still to like them! I know they've been around a good while, but I can't really think of any of their older stuff - expect I'd know it if I heard it.…

1 Vinyl Record per Band/Artist
I've been growing my vinyl collection again after a few years of a break. I decided that I don't need every album by some of the bigger names I like expect for a few exemptions (Pearl Jam, and several Beatles albums) I decided to just get one album by most of the bands or artists I listen too which has been harder than I…

Neil, Joni, Nils, and everyone else who's pulled their music From Spotify
I know Nils often gets lumped with Neil Young (Rolling Stone sort of did that here) so some may question why another thread here (or the Mods may eventually wan to merge them if more artists get on board with this), but Nils is a musical force in his own right having recorded several albums with his band Grin, as well as…

Urge Overkill
I’ve been a fan since the early nineties. Their new album Oui drops tomorrow. First in 12 years and in my opinion might be their best.

Introduce an obscure old band/artist you think people should hear
Taking kdpjam's idea about introducing new bands and artists, introduce people to acts that you think are underappreciated, and/or might have slipped under people's radars. I'll start. Here's Fotheringay, featuring Sandy Denny, whom Zep fans will know sang on Battle of Evermore:…

*** LIAM GALLAGHER ***
Seems he got his voice back. And the single sounds like a modern Oasis tune. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdJc7-ZEuT0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGhfXPY96DA

At what length does a record side really distort?
I have some albums with like 25-28 minutes per side and I haven't heard any difference. Obviously I do not have high end equipment and might not know what to hear for. What length is really tooo long? And where is it just silly nerd talk?
