New album just dropped today. Haven't had a chance to dig into it yet but enjoyed the tracks they've released so far. Any feedback on this so far?

Halfway through and I like it. I'm not sure if I like it better than the last one though. There's usually about 3 - 4 standout tracks on each of their albums.
    It's a hopeless situation...

I haven’t got motivated to listen to this yet, the last one was so bad. The singles haven’t done much for me either.

So much better than The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here.  I need a few more listens before I can say where it stands in respect to Black Gives Way To Blue which I really like.

^This. I listened to Rainer Fog last night. It's a "good" album, or maybe better to say it's not a "bad" album. I didn't hear any songs that are better than the last two releases. That doesn't mean I don't like the album, but nothing really clicking for me. Honestly, Comes With The Fall and Jerry's solo albums are much stronger than the post-Layne records IMO.

Yeah really. It's a very good album. Much, much better than an album from another Seattle band from that same year.

Agreed. Bit long, maybe, but some really solid stuff. Stone, Phantom Limb, Breath On A Window, Voices, Pretty Done - all really solid tracks. Still haven't gotten to listen to the new one but good to see positive reviews!

My problem with Devil Put Dinosaurs was pretty much just about every song sounded exactly the same i thought.  I did however really like Phantom Limb.

I'm really digging Rainier Fog after two listens through.  It's a workhorse of an album; nothing flashy, pretty consistent from start to finish, all around solid album.  I like it a lot more than TDPDH; that album had a few standouts for me, but overall I felt it was a little too mellow.  Rainier Fog lacks some diversity; it doesn't have any of those quintessential acoustic AIC tracks like their last two albums have (Voices, Your Decision, When The Sun Rose Again), even though I'm not a huge fan of those, they made the album a little more colorful.  I'm really happy with this new album and the direction they're heading in.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

After a couple days with the album I've found it's had much of the same effect that The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here did. It takes time to grow before it really starts to sink in. I'm finding it hard to throw on any one track, too. Pretty much any time I put TDPDH on I end up running through at least the entire back half. This one demands an even lengthier stay.

There's a sense of extra gravitas on this one as well, owing to recent events (and the band has stated as much). It may not be a send-off for Seattle music, but it certainly feels like one.
