Thurston Moore By The Fire
was reading some reviews on Instagram this morning, and I've never been a massive sonic youth fan (casual fan), it just made me check it out. I'm really digging this so far.

Help with workout music, please.
I don't know much about the technicalities of music times and the like, so please help me out if you can. I'm doing daily workouts for physical therapy (and my own sanity), and most of them require longer movements, vs. cardio. I've been using songs like Everlast's Ends and Watch Me Shine, or the Gorillaz' Clint Eastwood.…

Marilyn Manson Appreciation Thread
Over the past year or so the shock rocker of the 90's and 00's has become one of my all time fav. artists, making my top 10. What got me hooked to his music? His masterpiece, "Antichrist Superstar." Songs like "Tourniquet," "Mister Superstar," and "The Reflecting God," managed to impress me by a long shot, with the many…

When a new LP is released, why do they say it is "dropped"?
First of all, don't you go dropping my records- it's bad for them! Secondly, I think of something creative/entertaining being "dropped" to mean it is eliminated. For example: "In 1998, Dellaventura, starring Danny Aiello, was dropped from the CBS line-up after only 13 episodes." (Which really sucks because it was a…

Laura Jane Grace & The Devouring Mothers
Caught them last night in philly. Cool show. Diverse crowd with the LBGTQ community there, so that's cool. Opening bands were Control Top from philly and Mercy Union (which reminded me of Gaslight Anthem, but I think I heard someone saying one of the guys in the band is also in Gaslight Anthem?) Her album Bought to Rot is…

Wolfmother/Andrew Stockdale
So Andrew Stockdale has now released a new solo song, with his record coming September 14. I assumed a new WM record was in the works, with the single Freedom is Mine being released last year. He's now got 4 Wolfmother albums and 2 solo records. This guy is confusing. After the first record, the other two guys quit. Then…

Cold War Kids

Gun Club: Anyone heard of 'em?
I got bored of everything in my collection a few months ago, searched the internet for lists like "100 greatest punk albums" and "50 most influential records of the last 50 years" and such ... led me to lots of ... :coughcough: downloads ... :coughcough: ... one of them was the discography for an old band called (The) Gun…

Jimi Hendrix: Gone 50 Years Today
I've lost track of time lately and just heard it has been 50 years since Jimi Hendrix left this world. 50 years?! That set me back on my heals a bit. Music in general and particularly Jimi Hendrix music was an immeasurable relief from what was frequently a terribly boring, pointless couple of years in high school.…

Old Crow Medicine Show
Any other OCMS fans here? If not, I cannot recommend them enough! I have seen them live several times and they are by far one of the best live bands I've ever seen. I'm not really a bluegrass/newgrass/roots fan but they are amazing! And so nice! We took our kids to a bluegrass festival this weekend and were lucky enough to…
