More classic and well-known than Jump?

not more well known, no. but i'm biased. i have always preferred van hagar. i consider their music during that era as much more serious and melodic, the DLR era more tongue in cheek and fun.

I hear you there.  The DLR era featured a lot more shredding by Eddie.  The band really blends together with Hagar.  Right Now is phenomenal, but I heard it once too many times growing up.  I do really enjoy the Balance record (I actually have it on right now).

I feel like I slighted so much. Mostly “Mean Street,” though. I might have to sub that one in for “Everybody Wants Some!!”

Or is this no givesy backsies?

It deserves more than an honorable mention for that intro alone.

I love the photo at the top of the site.

Also, “Why Can’t This Be Love” at 131?  Wow.  I was considering naming that as one of my favorites.

So many good memories and performances. I give people credit for focusing on positives, but I also feel like Van Halen's story should be considered a cautionary tale.
  • It's hard to pick favorites, I love the Van Halen catalog from beginning to end (there are some worthwhile moments on Van Halen III) but after Eddie's passing last week these are the ones I think I'm enjoying the most for various reasons:
    1) Ain't Talking Bout Love
    2) Unchained
    3) In A Simple Rhyme
    3) Runnin with the Devil
    4) Women In Love
    5) On Fire
    6) Hear About It Later
    7) 5150
    8) Little Guitars
    9) Summer Nights
    10) Humans Being
