Thanks. Got lucky this year. Also maybe learned a few things along the way. Peaches are from the farmstand. First year that I actually fed my tomato plants and peppers. Also planted about 5 plants in a super sunny spot that I normally plant only flowers. Those ones are doing great.josevolution said:Damn that’s impressive you must have a green thumb0 -
One of the recipes in my Mediterranean Diet cookbook is for fig muffins. They are made with a combo of oat flour and buckwheat flour. The only sweetener is 3 tablespoons of honey and 12 chopped figs that are in the batter. They came out really good. They are not as sweet as muffins I am used to eating but still delicious.0 -
Creative^ never heard of that. I love figs too. Not always easy to find fresh ones.0

It is hard to find them. I got them at Whole Foods. They had a bunch of them there. I had to buy 16 whole figs for this recipe. 12 of them got diced up small for the batter and 4 got sliced to put on top of the muffins. I ate one today and put the rest in the freezer. Twenty seconds in the microwave should be good when I want to eat them.Loujoe said:Creative^ never heard of that. I love figs too. Not always easy to find fresh ones.0 -
Farro rules. Regularly have a farro salad with cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, kalamata, feta and more in the fridge in the summerGlowGirl said:For the past few months I have been eating really poorly in terms of healthy food. First I was traveling with the PJ tour and ate delicious food but probably not the healthiest. When I came home I just wasn’t into cooking much and have been ordering in a lot. Again, delicious but less nutritious. So I decided to try the Mediterranean diet for a while. For me to stick with it - it had to be easy. I found a great cookbook that covers 4 weeks. Each week has a shopping list and a schedule of what to eat each day, what to prep ahead and freeze, etc. also, the recipes are for one person. So I decided to try this. I started today. Lunch was chicken and Faro salad, and dinner was roasted butternut squash soup topped with sautéed pumpkin seeds and sour cream. What I like about this is that they use part of the dinner for lunch the next day. So tomorrow’s lunch is the soup (I have tons left for the freezer) and a grilled cheese sandwich. Here is what I had today:

I have one but the last two seasons I’ve almost killed it by not covering it properly! It’s got three dominant branches small figs but they won’t get ripe this season maybe a couple of them, I need to wrap it good this fall so next season I can get a good harvestCROJAM95 said:

Fig season. I might try to grow one or two. I knew a dude that grew them. I think he bent it over and buried it in a trench for the winter. Probably 100 ways to overwinter them. I like the thought of just putting it in the garage.0

If you could elaborate on how it's done. Dm me if you want.CROJAM95 said:

I know a few LI guys that have fig trees. They cannot give them away. They are all over the stores up here, but pricey! Great on a charcuterie or cheese board.0
