I have never done a pit lottery. How does it work if you are with a group of people and all want to hang out together in the pit and you get different numbers for lineup. Do two people share one number if they are a couple? or if they are with three of their kids, etc. Does that count as cutting in line if they want to be with their spouse, etc. Just wondering how that works.

The posts where people are defending the current system with the scenario about new fans getting a chance to be on the rail are kind of silly. 🤪 The current system isn’t about first timers getting on the rail… if it really was about that then no one would have harassed the guy who was first on line yesterday. They would have been celebrating him and cheering how great it was that a first timer was at the head of the line. Just be honest and say the truth… you want to keep the current system because it benefits you and your friends.

In very unreasonable to expect a big group to hang together at a PJ concert unless you’re willing to hang in back or buy seats together. I just question if you’re there for the music or if it’s something else entirely

As mentioned earlier, people queue up at a normal, reasonable time during the day. People get wristbands from 1-500 or whatever. You are with the people you are attending with. Then a random number is drawn for the "start" of the line. Say it is 156. 156 becomes the first in line. It would go from 156-500, then 1-155. Parties would stay together, unless everyone you are with is 150-155 and you are 156. Then it's decision time, ha.
I would love to be on rail, and this system would possibly compel me to attend shows again for GA.
I like my kids and family. I can't/dont want to waste life camping out in the streets for 2 nights. I did it once before and it was not that safe either. I also did not feel overly welcome, and by the time the show started, I was at like 50% energy from the whole ordeal. I remember feeling pretty dehydrated too.

This very specific scenario is quite the Sophie's Choice for ol' number 20! The answer, though is they are the end of the wristband line.
This whole discussion would stop if they brought back the front row lottery. I am sure the rail hogs would still find a way to satisfy their thirst of being up front all the time but maybe every so often the band would see someone new there who is equally deserving of the ecstasy even if they may not have spent an entire day in a tent in front of the venue. It may smell better up front too How boring is it too to see the same freaking faces in every tour video?
At every show so far this tour there have been people camping who were either doing their first show ever or first GA. Out of the 40 or so people on the rail any given night the regulars only make up a subset.
See, to me the thing is there shouldn't be "regulars" at the rail. It should be new people every night.

I've done so many Springsteen lottery.. they never split up people who are together. If you get the first number abd your buddy in front of you was last they are now with you. But that's it... everyone else falls in behind you in order. It would solve alot

15-19 could move to the back of the pit with number 20. No one would mind people moving back.

It’s general admission. There is never a guarantee that people could be together. If people want to experience the show together, it’s probably best to grab reserved seats all together in the public sale.

Back of the line. #20 can join them or stay at the front. The rules would have to be unbendable or you will have “groups” of 10, 20, 40, 100 to game the system.

Except there can’t be 15-20 people tied together. There is only 2. If it’s done you’re way than that system doesn’t work either. They should get split up. If they want to be together so bad go to the back

Maybe they'd be gracious and let the whole group stay with you but otherwise seems obvious to just go to the back of the line with your friends. If that's not obvious I think it's worth considering some things.

This is correct. They let groups stay together within reason obviously.
When I bought tickets for Bruce last fall at Camden Yards the max tickets for GA it would let me buy was 2. If I wanted more I had to move back to reserved seats.

Maybe 1000 people show up for a wristband sometimes less depending on the city. Everyone with a wristband comes back at 6pm and they draw one number let’s say it’s 257 now they’re the first person in. Then everyone else files in numerically after that. Simple.
I'm torn on this system. I feel that with this system there are some people who will never win that GA lottery and have a chance to get on rail. With our system everyone has the chance to get on rail if they can put in a bit of time and effort. So, if someone really wants it and can organize themselves to try it at least once, they have a chance. With that lottery they may never get the chance.
Last year at Fenway I had friends who experienced the rail. They really wanted it at least once. They camped out and got to experience the rail. They said it was fun. They weren't sure if they would do it again, but were really happy they got to experience it at least once. With a GA lottery their number may never come up.

Not everyone has the time (a full day+) to do that. Jobs and life get in the way, especially considering the demographic of the fan base nowadays.
Springsteen system is the way. Still requires a bit of a commitment, but far less. That or scrap GA, bring back seated floor and lotto the first 15 rows.

Springsteen system is the way. Still requires a bit of a commitment, but far less. That or scrap GA, bring back seated floor and lotto the first 15 rows.
