bootleg said:ally12 said:For back to back shows like this, is it a common understanding that after N1 is done everyone who is doing GA for N2 line up at the venue gate. Everyone lines up and say wait 30 minutes for the crowds to dissipate. After 30 mins or so, everyone who is in the GA will migrate to the camp out spot, and that’s where people will take turns to grab their gear and settle in for the night.Once the group migrates over to the camp out spot, whoever arrives just lines up behind the last camper.
Or is N2 handled differently and for N2 everyone goes to the camp out spot right away?I’ve never tried to camp out back 2 back for shows, I would like to one day and just curious what the process is like post N1 show. Now we know there were 2 lines and everyone miss understood each other. Then I offered a suggestion on how to fix the issue, haha
sorry for the confusion!Post edited by ally12 on2005: Ottawa / 2011: Ottawa / 2016: Ottawa / 2022: Ottawa / 2022:Quebec City / 2024: Vancouver / 2024: Vancouver / 2024: New York City0 -
mace1229 said:This topic comes up every tour. I've never camped out in line so I don't have a personal experience, but I've read plenty of stories.
And most of the bad stories seem to come from unofficial pre-lines and those who are camping out for the first time not know about said pre-lines. And why would they? Especially since many of the tours the band announces there are no official pre lines and no pre-lines will be honored, etc. But if you don't know about the unofficial secret pre-line and head to the GA line when the 10c told you to go line up, you get yelled at and accused of cutting.
I have to say I'd be pretty pissed and probably non-compliant if I followed the official rules and did exactly as instructed by the band only to be told to go to the end of the line because I was hanging out at the wrong bar all night and didn't check in with the right, unaffiliated-with-the-band, guy.

This whole discussion would stop if they brought back the front row lottery. I am sure the rail hogs would still find a way to satisfy their thirst of being up front all the time but maybe every so often the band would see someone new there who is equally deserving of the ecstasy even if they may not have spent an entire day in a tent in front of the venue. It may smell better up front too
How boring is it too to see the same freaking faces in every tour video?

I say out all of them. It’s embarrassing that grown adults act this way. It shouldn’t matter that security would prefer to see familiar faces. Can’t imagine the band would be ok with people acting like pricks anytime someone new gets up front. Ridiculous.0

See, to me the thing is there shouldn't be "regulars" at the rail. It should be new people every night.

I’m sure this has been mentioned already haven’t read back but Springsteen handled this the best. Show up with a GA ticket between 1pm-5pm and get a numbered wristband. Maybe 1000 people show up for a wristband sometimes less depending on the city. Everyone with a wristband comes back at 6pm and they draw one number let’s say it’s 257 now they’re the first person in. Then everyone else files in numerically after that. Simple.0

I received an unexpected Setlist after a show last year, just after the show finished.
I didnt ask for it, i just received by hand by a security guard. Actually he gave me one and gave my wife another one. Yes!
Wow, i was more impressed by the people around us !
Some offer 5.000 for a setlist, others wants to take pictures with us. We felt like celebrities for a while.
My point?
I dont know. Im 45 and i dont care anymore about who got rail, who camp, who win, who gets a tambourine!
But i did!
And some folks still care. So i respect them. Simple.I'm torn on this system. I feel that with this system there are some people who will never win that GA lottery and have a chance to get on rail. With our system everyone has the chance to get on rail if they can put in a bit of time and effort. So, if someone really wants it and can organize themselves to try it at least once, they have a chance. With that lottery they may never get the chance.Last year at Fenway I had friends who had never experienced the rail. They really wanted it at least once. They camped out and got to experience the rail. They said it was fun. They weren't sure if they would do it again, but were really happy they got to experience it at least once. With a GA lottery their number may never come up.

Is it newer fans (the last few years) up front waiting in line for all of these shows? I can imagine folks who’ve been seeing them for years would be waiting in line for a band 15+ years past their prime… And if they are older, 40-50 year olds creating groups to game the system every night to be up front is just sad and strange obsessive behavior. New flash- Ed doesn’t want to be your friend."What can you expect when you're on top? You know? It's like Napoleon. When he was the king, you know, people were just constantly trying to conquer him, you know, in the Roman Empire. So, it's history repeating itself all over again."0
