    My sister in law was diagnosed with skin cancer a few years ago. She gets the call that the biopsy was cancerous and to see a specialist and ran into the same thing. What a horrible thing to get a diagnosis like that and then be told you have to wait six months for someone to look at it.

    She ended up driving to Indianapolis to see a Dr...maybe 3-4 weeks after diagnosis. It all turned out good but what a fucked up system.
    There just aren't enough doctors, especially specialists, to treat our aging population anymore. The older we get, the more care we need.
    I don't know why so few people want to become doctors anymore, but I've heard some say that there's just too much paperwork to do these days and others are frightened off by the law suites filed by ambulance-chasing lawyers.
    Anyway, glad your story had a happy conclusion.

    For most of the last 30 years, I have not been able to find a general practitioner that is an MD.  All (6? 7? 8?) have been nurse practitioners.  All have been nice enough people and seem to do what they can, but with everything I've had to deal with (autoimmune disorder, chronic vertigo, skin cancer, a variety of hearing issues, lichen planus, oral lichen planus, arthritis, digestive disorders), I have to see the nurse practitioner simply to get a referral to see a specialist.  It can sometimes take months, sometimes several months.  This has been going on too long.  I've been known from time to time to tell my wife she should take me out to pasture and shoot me.  :lol:

    I'd recommend making the appointment, then seek out a local second, or even third, opinion.

    I think a pro would have done a head shot. Clearly the guy was comfortable with the gun but shooting in the back seems like a disgruntled person. 

    It will be interesting to see how he paid at Starbucks. If a credit card he's fucked. Probably used his rewards card.

    This is the craziest murder I've heard of. Someone watched Seven too many times.
    It will be interesting if it turns out the guy sued UH and lost. Not supporting what he did but there are some absolute horror stories out there with insurance companies.

    And then yesterday we see the news that BC/BS is only going to pay for a certain amount of anesthesia for surgeries, etc. I'm sure they have some internal reasoning but the optics are bad. What's next? If a surgeon goes in to remove something and sees something else they won't pay for that?

    UHC in network was amazing.  Out of network it was terrible. I had them 15 years ago and loved them.

    That's a strange take. I haven't read one person sound "gleeful" about this cold-blooded murder. The video footage was so shocking, it's understandable that people are interested in the story. I, for one, have great respect for law enforcement and take pride in how quickly they usually solve these cases. Yesterday, I commented that the killer was foolish to get coffee at Starbucks and if they find his cup, he is cooked. Indeed, today it is being reported that "investigators hope accompanying evidence left behind will help identify him, including a cellphone discovered in an alleyway near the hotel where the shooting occurred as well as a cup in a trash can at a nearby Starbucks.
