Stop hanging out in those cesspools of social media. That said, UHC's business model seems to be to snap up service providers and then contest everything, from re-imbursements and coverages for plan members to nickle and diming service providers. I hope the perp is caught and charged. No one should be gunned down in the street in broad daylight.

There was a similar case a few months ago where I think it was a hedge fund manager or somebody like that. Assassinated in broad daylight on a busy street. I don't know whatever happened in that investigation.

That's a strange take. I haven't read one person sound "gleeful" about this cold-blooded murder. The video footage was so shocking, it's understandable that people are interested in the story. I, for one, have great respect for law enforcement and take pride in how quickly they usually solve these cases. Yesterday, I commented that the killer was foolish to get coffee at Starbucks and if they find his cup, he is cooked. Indeed, today it is being reported that "investigators hope accompanying evidence left behind will help identify him, including a cellphone discovered in an alleyway near the hotel where the shooting occurred as well as a cup in a trash can at a nearby Starbucks.

What a system. I’m sure HC will only get better for Americans in the next 4 years.

I know that’s a knock on 47 and hopefully he does not screw up our system. ACA was supposed to solve the insurance denial problem. If anything results from this horrific assassination is that attention will be drawn on insurance misdeeds

We need to be lucky with health insurance. I am very fortunate with insurance and living near NYC. People come from around the world to be treated here.

I had a non life threatening issue that needed a procedure, and it was literally a one in a million thing, 300 or so cases a year in this country. I first saw two very experienced specialists that had no idea what to do, but they referred me to a top five surgeon that practices within 20 miles of my home. I had hospital roomies from hundreds of miles away to see this guy.

pretty sure what most here advocate for is proper accountability for bad actors within law enforcement.

Its a tough job. Think because of funding cuts elsewhere,  they become tasked with far more than they are equipped or trained for.

    key point here, bad actors.

see most here seem able to differentiate between bad actors and those doing their jobs. we generally dont paint any entire demographic as bad. or rotten brains. or what have you.

based on what I've seen from you, you lack that discernment.

I have to say this is one of the stories that doesn't seem to have political sides. I've read people not necessarily celebrating, but aren't feeling bad either. People get fucked over by insurance day in/day out. People are frustrated. Personally I don't see it as being corrected because of this or fixed by the incoming admin.

This is why people hate insurance. That CEO obviously didn't deserved to get killed, but its pretty easy to hate the guys guts when they make money off letting you and your loved ones suffer.
I mentioned the other day the hoops we have to jump through for medication.
A few years back they required "Dr authorization" to fulfill my wife's Humira. I mean, that's what a prescription is, but whatever.
They told us what to do, get our dr to fax this form in. We do, we call insurance, they can't confirm if they received it or not, we're told we just have to wait.
A month goes by and were denied because they never received said form. We call customer service and were told "o, that was the wrong number, he needs to fax it to this number instead." We do, we cal back, were told again they can't confirm if they received it, we have to wait.
month goes by, were denied again. We call customer service ad were told "o, the doctor isn't supposed to fax that in, he has to call this number and speak to a representative...."
This goes on for 6 months. Why wife is without her arthritis medication for 6 months (luckily her doctor was really nice and gave her some emergency doses on the house in the meantime). We're told this one more time after 6 months and I get on the phone and I just say
"We've been playing this game for 6 months. We were told to fax this number, then call that number and so on. If our medication isn't here next week you will be hearing from an attorney."
His response was "please hold......I just spoke to my manager and I put in an over-ride and you will have your medication sent to you tomorrow."
Its absolutely ridiculous that they delay and deny until you say the magic word "attorney."
And people are making billions off doing this.  I'm not really surprised the CEO was targeted.

I've read differing reports of what words were inscribed on the live rounds and spent casings recovered at the scene. Some sources report "deny", "defend", "depose" while others report "deny", "delay", "depose". Either way, it suggests that the killer was aware of this book. Unfortunately, it must not have been very helpful.

Insurance companies are only maddening because you don't have to deal with the providers and pharma companies directly

And FYI I'm only defending insurance companies relative to the other spokes of the healthcare wheel. Believe me they have their own issues. I'm arm wrestling with Blue Cross right now but the reality is they're 50% to blame and the hospital is 50% to blame.
