Politically, like most Dems, they know the middle is where to govern, but you win elections by appeal to as wide of a group as possible.
If someone said that about trump in a way that it was no big deal, I'd say the same thing.
But I don't read the Trump thread very often. There's more posts about making fun of his orange skin than anything actually useful, so I don;t check it very often.
But that's the problem, we come to expect it. It was brought up that she changed her views in 2020 to get more votes as if that's totally normal and no big deal. And it was mentioned that way because that has become the norm in politics. Which is frustrating.0 -
Again, point out where I said it was a left only issue and I'll gladly take back my words.Halifax2TheMax said:Or a health plan bigger, better, less expensive than Obamacare?0 -

One thing I've found interesting this election cycle, the lack of conversation around gun policy/reform. The right isn't stoking fear about radical liberals coming for them and the left isn't bringing up mass shootings to push for reform. Summer's over though, so I'm sure something will happen to bring it to the front again.
It's a hopeless situation...0 -
The problem is it is often seen as insincere, and therefore not something they will likely stand behind when the time comes.tbergs said:
Wait, so people hate a politician who has policies they don't like, and they also hate politicians who adjust their policies based on the feedback of a large majority of voters 🤔 . Changing political views because you listen to the voice of the people and want to represent them better is one thing. Making statements that you don't believe in to gain votes is another.0 -
Trump's been around politics for like 10 years. He is the most extreme example of someone saying whatever he thinks voters want to hear in order to get elected yet I do not remember seeing you saying anything about that. The guy used to be pro-choice. He used to make jokes about aborting his daughter on the Howard Stern show. He went from that....to nominating the most conservative pro life Supreme court in recent memory who dismantled a woman's right to choose in this country.mace1229 said:

Kamala moving from the left to the middle is no different than what any other politician does after the primaries are over and they need to appeal to a wider audience for the general election. That's been the norm forever. What Donald Trump has done is completely reinvent himself in order to fool 46% of the voting public. As someone who seems to lean to the right, that's not a little frustrating? The guy has been pandering for your vote for a decade now.Post edited by The Juggler onwww.myspace.com0 -

The difference is I haven't seen anyone defend trump on switching, so I'm not going to respond to something no one ever said. The Juggler said:
Trump's been around politics for like 10 years. He is the most extreme example of someone saying whatever he thinks voters want to hear in order to get elected yet I do not remember seeing you saying anything about that. The guy used to be pro-choice. He used to make jokes about aborting his daughter on the Howard Stern show. He went from that....to nominating the most conservative pro life Supreme court in recent memory who dismantled a woman's right to choose in this country.mace1229 said:

When was the last time you said that about Trump, who literally used to be a Democrat before he realized Republicans would be easier to dupe?mace1229 said:

She thought she could thread the needle and appeal to both center left Dems and the far left. She missed.
Which is frustrating.
The guy has been pandering for your vote for a decade now.
Someone defends Kamala for changing, and I'll comment that's why people don't like politicians, most of us realize they don't mean it when they change. Nothing I said was specific to Kamala or the left. If someone defends trump or anyone on the right for flopping and I'll say the same thing. But I cant respond to a comment that was never made.Post edited by mace1229 on0 -

Truly dark times if a candidate for President announces their positions and a hostile press critiques themmrussel1 said:
Please. You're not naive enough to think that Fox or whoever will spin whatever she says. Take the price-gouging. That's a law in many states, including Alabama and Florida due to the hurricanes. Yet, it took Fox one minute to call it "price controls".pjl44 said:
Too cynical for me and a bit of a tightrope walk with current polling. It's very telling subtext that "supporters" think her campaign is better off if she's not tested.Tim Simmons said:
I agree. But also, ride the vibes and polls out. There’s so much wind at her back and Trump is flopping. Let him make unforced errors.pjl44 said:
She should put those centrist positions on her website! Sit down with a journalist and explain these delightfully moderate views!Tim Simmons said:Kamala pivoted left on several policy positions in 2020 because of the success Bernie had in 2016. I wonder if the Fox critique would be as scathing as this other right wing rag
