I don't know politics but I saw that debate. Man.
It's being stuck between a rock and a hard place as my mum used to say.
Naïve question but can the Boden team not put a young candidate in now and easily beat trump. The cognitive decline of Biden is handing trump votes he would not be getting if someone was standing against him that could articulate them self at least. It was just sad to watch someone suffer like that . Felt cruel of his family to allow him to be humiliated.
I don't know why can have younger people to vote for

I don't know why can have younger people to vote forJoe is old. He had a bad night. He also stutters, which makes him prone to misspeak or speak more haltingly than you might expect.I wish he was younger (and as I keep saying, I wish I was younger, but here we are). All of that said, we can't extrapolate from all of that that he's having cognitive issues. At the end of the day, one of our candidates is really old; the other is really old and a lunatic and a criminal. (The third option, RFK Jr., is old and literally has brain worms.) The choices are not optimal -- and yet it seems like an easy choice to me.We are awash in hot takes and backup options (I'll keep saying it: stop already with Gavin Newsom as the replacement option). My best guesses:1) There will be a behind the scenes meeting or twelve this weekend, wherein the Democratic leadership will weigh options, have serious conversations, and, fingers crossed, present their plan early next week -- as a unified group. That could mean sticking with Biden and noting that the other guy just stood there and made shit up for two hours, or it could mean going with Josh Shapiro, who knows? Unity will be key, in my opinion.2) Everyone will have more or less forgotten about the debate by Tuesday, as fallout from the remaining Supreme Court decisions, including that pesky "presidential immunity" case, will overwhelm the news cycle. (Those decisions are expected on Monday, I think.)All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.0 -

(Those decisions are expected on Monday, I think.)Excellent summation, C.I agree that about Newsom. He has plainly stated his continued support for Biden. His running in not going to happen.I also agree that the choices are not optimal, and I don't believe they are going to change. Biden made it clear yesterday that he is going forward, and that he is in it to the day of the election. So the choice is simple: An old man who desires to keep democracy alive and who care about the strong foundations of the country, or an old man who is a pathological liar, a narcissist, a felon, a misogynist, and a megalomaniac who cares only about his own massively huge and distorted ego. The choice is simple."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -
But the whole world can see that because of bidens state trump will win. It's detrimental to have him there it's lose lose. The party needs to be bold and help the world . Trump is a disaster for everyone

Trump is a disaster for everyoneThe problem is, you nor I nor anyone but Biden can make him drop out of the race, and I don't see any indication of him wanting to do that. Joe will do just fine. Remember, he is the kind of man who will listen to advisors. And Trumps mental state is also dysfunctional in other ways, PLUS he will not listen to anyone but his own twisted self.I think we need to do the logical thing and stand behind Biden.Post edited by brianlux on"It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

It sounds like there is a meeting happening, as I expected. So we will see. But, lastexit, I share your concern, as I'm sure most if not all European leaders do, but -- this will be ancient history by November. So many things could happen between now and then, good or bad, that it's hard to say how much of an impact this will have on the outcome. Most voters already have made up their minds. This election will be decided on the margins, by swing voters in swing states; it will come down to what matters more for them -- concern about Biden's age, or general loathing of the other guy's manifest unfitness for the role? All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.0

Or, more specifically, we need to stand against the former guy. As a Bulwark person, "we" tend to talk about forming not a pro-Biden coalition (although I'm a Biden fan) but a pro-democracy, anti-T*&^p coalition.

this is not trump vs biden.
this is trump vs women's rights
trump vs the economy/capitalism
trump vs lqbtq rights
trump vs the american way/republic/democracy
trump vs the rule of law
trump vs nato
trump vs peace and order
biden, and democratic voters, are the only things standing in the way of trump and fascism. this is how it should be framed in every single ad. this is what the talking point should be."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
