So, my sister, brother and I want to get a good cheesesteak before the show - what's better Pats or Genos?
    My opinion???

Going to Geno's or Pat's, is equivalent to visiting Chicago, and going to Domino's or Papa John's for Pizza.....

Geno's and Pat's are both GARBAGE!!!!!

    I totally agree!

    Sad thing is.....
    As a tourist in Philly....
You really dont know any better....right???
All you have ever heard about was Geno's and Pat's.....So that is where you go when you get a cheesesteak for the first time....

Then you realize that you just spent $10-$15 on the worst fucking sandwich you have ever eaten....
    Take me piece by piece.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....

Whats funny is that a place near me beat out ALL of the Philly joints in regards to cheesesteaks this year, and it's not even in Philly:

    John's Roast Pork
1000% agree on John's Roast Pork.  My favorite sandwich in the city.  Their roast pork sandwich really good too.
Sharp provolone w/ fried onions.  They use really nice seeded roles.  Better quality meat than other touristy places.  Each bite ends up being the perfect mix of meat, cheese, bread, onions.
John Bucci the owner actually won a James Beard award for his sandwiches.  I don't think he works the grill as much anymore, but when he's on he's a maestro working the grill.  Won a bunch of other "best cheesesteak" competitions as well.
A little trickier to get to since not on a subway line.  Its a little luncheonette across from a Lowe's.  Their hours might be a little more limited than some of the other places.  Not sure if they're doing order ahead for pickup so check the website for details/times before going.

There is an entire thread on Philly Cheesesteaks on AET. A lot of good information there.
