Angelo's was highly recommended and lived up to and even surpassed expectations. Their cheesesteak w/ cooper sharp and grilled onions is one of the best sandwiches - any sandwich, not just cheesesteak - I've ever tasted. Definitely worth the wait!
  • Son and I had Angelo’s on Saturday.  Best I’ve ever had for sure!

Every time I visit Philly (usually for PJ- 2009, 2012, 2013, 2016) I get a cheesesteak but with chicken.  Each and every time I am criticized and rightfully so  lol

Let's talk about this ridiculous idea that fake plastic cheez (cheese whiz) is the "traditional" topping for a cheesesteak. My parents had a hoagie shop in the early 70s and the cheesesteak cheese options at the time were American and Provolone. Fake Plastic Cheez (yes very much a pun on a Radiohead song) IS NOT the traditional "cheese" for a cheesesteak. Stop listening to millennial and gen z morons telling you this nonsense.

That is an interesting take. I will eat a cheesesteak with Whiz, but I definitely prefer provolone. There is a place in Huntington Beach, CA that I would go to a lot called John's Philly Grille. They make a delicious chicken hoagie on an Amoroso roll. Grilled chicken chunks, mushrooms, provolone, and lettuce and tomato. I crave that juicy bomb sandwich all of the time. Beef one is good, as well. Still never been to Philly. Someday.
1991- Hollywood Palladium, California with Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains -RIP Magazine Show Oct. 6th
    1992- Lollapalooza, Irvine, California
    Nothing since then. I suck.
2016- Fenway Park, Boston - Both glorious nights
    2022- Oakland Night 2
    2024 Sacramento, CA

    Heaven on a bun!
  • Does Angelo's put some kind of a sauce on the steak subs.  Seemed like there was.
  • Steaks. We don't eat "subs" in Phllly.

We too hit Angelo's on Saturday morning and it was indeed next level.  I've been a John's guy for years, but Angelo's blows it away.
