Weren't all alternatives considered competition for Pfizer's Paxlovid? Uncle Tony swore by the new pill and left it at the usual "kept him out of the hospital" because it didn't work. 2 boosters didn't help either.

"Swore by the new pill".  What does that mean?  If that means articulated that it was deemed safe and effective in a statistically significant, controlled test and therefore approved for emergency authorization use, then I guess.  If it means promising it is the best thing ever, even better than a new pillow from Mike Liddell or tastier than Trump Vodka, then I doubt he swore to it in that way.

See, he's a scientist, not a grifter.  I think you need to do a better job distinguishing the people you normally listen to, from scientists and doctors.  They see the world differently.

In case the link doesn't work. Here is the jist of the story:

While the mainstream media condemns the use of ivermectin, the most populated state in India just declared they are officially COVID free after promoting widespread use of the safe, proven medicine. One America’s Pearson Sharp has more.
We're not a third world nation.  We actually have a formal process to test and review drugs to ensure that they work for the illnesses in which they may treat.  You want third world doctors, have at it.
India is one of the leading pharmaceutical makers in the world.  They are hardly a third world nation at that.

India is considered a developing country,  with corruption.  Depending on your source, it's second or third world.
Anyone w nuclear capabilities should not be considered third world.
well you can carry around your own definitions if you want, but don't argue with me about because you have your own.  I'm using common definitions.  Pakistan is also nuclear, but that doesn't mean I would go get heart surgery over there.  That's what we're talking about here.
I get it.  It is just odd that a country w their technological abilities would be considered third world still.

I wouldn't get my medical advice and surgical procedures over there either.  That's the point.  The OP used India as a reason why the FDA should have forgone its testing procedures and just green lit Ivermectin for use to treat COVID, even though there was no US driven, peer reviewed, clinical evidence that it was effective (and still no clinical evidence today).  And I said I don't get my medical advice and information from a third world nation.

It's interesting you say that because here I know a bunch of people that head over the border to have dental work done, I know it's not surgery but they are dental medical procedures.

Understood about the medical advice.  I remember the one Israeli medical finding that everyone latched on to early on.  Don't hear about it anymore though.

    Which border?

The Israeili study was preliminary and not peer reviewed.  Every other proper study has shown no reduction of death and hospitalization.  Some have shown one less day of symptoms.

Southern.  Mexico is a great place to get major dental work done for a fraction of the cost here.

Yes, that Israeli study was the one I was thinking of that went nowhere.

Up until a few years ago their train toilets all flushed right out onto the tracks. But yeah...nukes
China and Russia are too by looking at the lists.

Southern.  Mexico is a great place to get major dental work done for a fraction of the cost here.

Yes, that Israeli study was the one I was thinking of that went nowhere.
Yeah, I probably won't be going to Mexico for anything other than to get drunk and shot.

tell that to the close to billion people living in slums.....
I get that also.  Have you been to Seattle or California lately?  I could bring you to a few places that are up and coming in NY too. It's not a billion people but it's a fair amount.
we saw PJ in Oakland and had a few people from outside the US tell us that they were shocked at the number of homeless people....they couldn't believe that we allowed them to exist like that. Can't argue with that.
Having lived and or visited those places for the last 30 years or so, I too am shocked at what has happened in those areas too.
We were just in Chicago as well and got confronted by a guy on the subway and again in the terminal that was demanding "help me get something from the store".  He was being very confrontational to a lot of people on the train.  Most ignored him but I did see one guy argue with him. Probably not the best idea but no violence occurred.

In Oakland we walked up on two people smoking crack/meth on the steps down to the subway. They didn't give two shits that people were walking by them. Also encountered a guy on the stairs coming out of the subway that was putting some sort of cream on horrible looking sores on his legs. Doesn't make you want to visit again that's for sure.

I think it's comical that people think homelessness is a local/city issue.  Some cities celebrate their lack of homelessness, but it's just because they were harassed and moved elsewhere.  No one has solved the issue at a city or state level, they just move it somewhere else.

That's true. There is homelessness in my city which is in the wealthiest county in Indiana. They live in tents on the river banks. Downtown Indy has a real problem with people defecating on sidewalks, on the city circle, etc.

When we visited CA last year for Ohana we were surprised at the number of homeless near the beaches. Venice Beach and San Bernardino were covered with homeless.

I know cities in LA that used to do that, move the homeless, same w here in NY, just move them along.  They end up congregating where either they were moved to, where help is, or they actually lived there at one time.

I do remember in 95 in Seattle the cops waking up the homeless sleeping on the lawn of the city hall area.  Same w the White house before the fence.  They moved them somewhere too.
