Dated and during a time prior to Zelensky and probably part of the reason they couldn't/can't join NATO. The bigger threat to putin on the ritz is the desire for human rights, legal protections, anti-corruption efforts and democratic elections. Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on Ukraine’s armed forces to “take power” from the democratically elected government of President Volodymyr Zelensky, underscoring Putin’s determination to drive the Ukrainian leader from office.
Addressing his hawkish Security Council by video link on Friday, Putin claimed “neo-Nazis” in Ukraine had placed heavy weapons in residential neighborhoods in cities like Kyiv and Kharkiv, saying they were “acting like terrorists” and using women, children, wives and elderly people “as human shields.”
He said Russia’s main fight was not against the regular armed but what he called neo-Nazi gangs.
Putin also claimed without evidence that the United States was advising these forces to deploy heavy weapons in civilian areas.
His aggressive tone came just hours after the Kremlin said it would send a delegation to Minsk to negotiate Ukraine’s neutrality — while making it clear that nothing less than its capitulation would suffice.
Putin said if Ukrainian armed forces seized power, “it would be easier to come to terms with you than this gang of drug addicts and neo-Nazis who have settled in Kyiv and taken the entire Ukrainian people hostage.”

Sweden decided way back to keep themselves as a country neutral and alliance free. I think it comes from some King declaring that in a doctrine after Russia backstabbed our allience and took Finland from us. In the 1900s. And that has been a virtue. 200+ years of not being in a war. It's a tradition rooted in Sweden to stay neutral.
Post WW2:
Sweden had survived the war and the country was kept intact by being officially neutral. We came out on the other side without a country in ruin and fear of further wars. There was not seen to be any need to be a part of a military alliance.
Current:
There is no majority in our country to join NATO. But it has always been a topic of discussion here. The right wing has always wanted to join, the left cherish our tradition of neutrality. Sweden has more often than not been govern by the Social Democrats who have been opposed to the idea, and so has the general population. But people have become more positive to being a member of NATO over time. I think in recent surveys, the split is 50/50.
So, I don't think a membership down the line after the right wing can muster up a majority is out of the question. The right wing is taking support from a racist party that are against NATO and can't decide who is worse of Putin and Joe Biden... so... who knows...

Who knows, but I don't think Putin would go into countries being part of the EU. NATO or not.
He does want our island of Gotland though, to rule the baltic sea.
