Yes, and even though nothing proven....I still bought the tylenol I saw on the shelf when I got gas the other day.tempo_n_groove said:Anybody following the link between ibuprofen and the virus?

But you don’t think an economic collapse will also take lives? An economic collapse will mean less health care and even unhealthier lifestyles as people go back to eating $0.99 fast food deals instead of making a healthier choice. Not to mention stress and anxiety, being unable to retire, will all take tolls on people’s physical health.Merkin Baller said:Saving human lives should take priority over maintaining the economic status quo.
we do need to consider a balance and at what point we will be harming ourselves more through this partial shutdown.
I don't disagree, and you raise some valid points; but looking at the situation in Italy, I think slowing this thing down needs to be priority #1 above all else.0

Yeah I bought a 500 count of Tylenol last week at Costco. It was literally the last bottle on the shelve. The Walgreens near me had none.cincybearcat said:

It is not at all. It is a disaster in its own right but it's a completely separate issue from functioning hospital systems, physician organizations, etc. once we are on the other side of this.Spiritual_Chaos said:
Sounds like close enough to a collapse to me.pjl44 said:
Our health care system won't collapse. The risk is that it gets overwhelmed by a surge of critically ill patients and deaths spike because of a capacity issue. That is a horrible outcome, but just to be clear about what we're up against.Merkin Baller said:I get people worrying about the economy & the long term affect this is going to have, but what's the point if our health care system gets overrun and collapses? We really need to start listening to the medical professionals and accept that halting the spread of this should be everyone's #1 priority. 0

Since it was a gas station, I think mine is like 24 only. I will buy more if I see it. Not to hoard, but enough in case someone is dealing with this for weeks in my house.mcgruff10 said:

I agree. I thin everyone agrees we need to get a handle of the situation.Merkin Baller said:mace1229 said:

But it is still horrifying thinking of the economic and social ramifications of this going forward.
And you sort of hope they will find a quick-fix in some surprising buy oh so logical way.Post edited by Spiritual_Chaos on"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0

Status quo is not on the table. That's gone for now. What's going to be weighed is recession vs. depression. We're talking degrees of calamity. What others are saying (and I tend to agree with) is that there is a human life toll on the bad end of that, too.Merkin Baller said:Saving human lives should take priority over maintaining the economic status quo. 0

Going back to Trumps statement: After 15 days the country will assess if the cure is worse than the disease.
This sounds reasonable and maybe hearing this will help all the stir crazy people at home who are doing the right thing.
An argument for economy over disease:
With earth's population saturated, perhaps the elderly, who helped run the environment into the ground, could sacrifice for the next generations, giving youth a better chance of survival?I was swimming in the Great Barrier Reef

I watched the film Contagion last night. Aside from it having the expected Hollywood moments, it was very good and frightening how much it resembled what we are living through at the moment. The warning signs of this happening have been there for many years. We failed to prepare accordingly.
