    China criticizes Sweden's corona handling


    China criticizes Sweden's handling of the corona virus, reports Ekot.
    In a newspaper owned by the ruling Communist Party, Sweden is accused of having "surrendered" to the infection.
    - Specifically, Sweden is singled out as particularly irresponsible, says Björn Jerdén, Head of the Asia Program at the Foreign Policy Institute to SR.

    WHO now describes Europe as the epicenter of the corona eruption. At the same time, sharp criticism comes from China against Sweden's handling of the outbreak.

    In an editorial in the Global Times magazine, owned by the Communist Party, the international community and the EU are urged to condemn Sweden - which they say is "capitulated" in the fight against the virus, reports Ekot.

    - It's a very sharp message. It is said that Sweden has given up the fight against the infection. They specifically point out Sweden as particularly irresponsible and say that Sweden's actions can have negative consequences for the global fight against the corona virus, says Björn Jerdén, head of the Asia Program at the Foreign Policy Institute to Ekot.

    In the article, Sweden is compared to a "black hole" that can spread the infection further. In particular, the new line of criticizing risk groups and healthcare professionals is criticized.

    But at the bottom there is probably also a genuine concern about how the corona virus is handled, she says.
    - I interpret it as being very worried about what is happening in Sweden, then we must remember that the Swedish-Chinese relations are very bad at the moment.

    Supermarkets lined up to carpark just to get in. Stupid people will be spreading the virus while stocking up for it. Glad I live out of town and have a small supermarket for what I need. Down to 8 rolls of TP rationing those cause can't get it anywhere and not bothering with crowds. Social gatherings of over 500 are cancelled as of Monday but even our local farmers markets are cancelled along with everything else yet our borders are not completely closed (Australia)

    Well, I don't go back to school in the DC metro area of Virginia until April 13. I start to work virtually Monday. We will see if virtual learning actually works. I'm going to enjoy time off from the world.

    Assuming you have access to the outdoors outside of an urban area, the fresh air may be beneficial.
    They used to treat epidemics with open air treatment.  Something about open air is mildly microbial and patients used to show better recovery rates in tents and cross ventilated hospitals than closed indoors.
    Open air factor is what they called it, not sure what the current scientific consensus on OAF is though...

    Running and vitamin D both help fight respiratory illnesses, so I would think that running outside in the sun is a good preventative measure against COVID-19. I'm not a doctor, but it makes sense to me.

    It may sound like nothing to some, but I can relate to this 100%. Going to the gym is a daily ritual for me. It’s therapeutic after a long day at work. I’m doing it from home too, but it’s not the same. If this lasts for a month or more, which seems likely, it’s going to be a long road.

    If we all go on lockdown, I’m running outside anyway. Let them arrest me. I’m not being told I can’t run outside with no one around. Fuck that.

    Over the past year or so, I’ve built my own home gym (dreadmill, airdyne bike, squat rack, barbells, kettle bells...). I like it. I don’t have to leave the house at 5am when it’s -10 in January, and I don’t have to deal with the dumb asses doing arm curls in the squat rack or camping out on benches.

     But, I understand the appeal of the gym. My eyes don’t get the same workout at home as they did at the gym.

    Concerning the Sweden and Chinese relations:


    Foreign Minister Ann Linde has commented through her press secretary:

    “I'm proud of everyone who works hard to limit Covid-19. International cooperation is needed to solve the situation the world is now facing. In today's difficult situation, polemics do not help. "

    Justice Minister Morgan Johansson (S) commented on the criticism in Ekot's Saturday interview.

    - It may be a result of the strained relations that existed between Sweden and China for some time. At the same time, it should be noted that we have lower spread of infection than other countries, including Norway and Denmark. Right now, the most important thing is not to worry about international conflicts. The best that states can do is to work together on this, he says.
