  • I am really digging the synth pads, it reminds me if Sleight of Hand was on Lighting Bolt

Right off the back, I thought David Byrne/Talking Heads

It’s catchy... I’d like for it to stay in my head for a long time.

Love it. New direction. No code shocked the fan base. This one will too. Hope there is a great flow to the album. The expectation is higher now!! Such a funky cool jam. Need more listens tho obviously

Loving it!  Based on that initial listen, loving the Prince-esque funky guitar, lyrical melodies from Ed, and the general groove and vibe which is a totally 80s sound and different for PJ.  Interested to see where the whole album takes us

DotC might be my favorite song since Riot Act, and I'm only partway through the second listen. LOVE the Talking Heads influence. LOVE the band branching out into something new (for them). LOVE the production. I dig it so hard. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album. Really hyped after the first track.
Couldn't say it any better,  the excitement for the new album continues to build,  I love when artists take their fans outside their comfort zone,  lol!

  • Not sure what to think after first listen. Kinda liked it, definitely nothing we ever heard from them
  • Looks like some of you never bothered to listen to the bands Ed wears t-shirts of. I'll take anything fresh over rehashed riffs all day every day.

I think this could be a real banger live. Reminds me a lot of Bowie, arctic monkeys, new age type sound
That would be Jeff, I'm sure

  • Had me in mind of The Man by the Killers throughout the entire song.

Reminds me of the shift that Queens of the Stone Age went through heading into Like Clockwork and Villains. They were different, retro in some ways, new age in others, but still 100% QOTSA. This song and album will be the same, even if it's a new direction.

Sounds like Arctic Monkeys. Def not much of the classic PJ sound.
  • Thumbs up.

Agree with everyone on the Bowie/Talking Heads influence. I hear some Killers in there as well.

Eddie confuses me Around the “positive? Positive! POSITIVE!!” and they for sure could have found a better line than “out of this world.” Maybe we will get the meaning of that line somewhere down the road though

You Are, with all it's funkiness, is one of my fav songs by PJ though, so I'm already predisposed to dig it :)

Definitely has a new sound-I like it though!  Has a Killers feel to it...

Well, since I've always loved THs, I'm a fan of this, but I agree, very different.

Liked the music more than Ed’s vocals. The dad growl in the beginning was, meh. Thought I heard a line about boys take pills for their dicks lol. Was grooving at the end though.....

I dig it too...was in need of anything refreshing after Can’t Deny Me, Ole, etc..I like Lightning Bolt, but it feels relatively safe in retrospect

Was hoping it would get harder towards end, but I guess it’s kind of cool that it doesn’t.

of things I’ve been listening to lately, I feel like it has a Wolf Parade vibe.

really like the delivery of the vocals
