I am really digging the synth pads, it reminds me if Sleight of Hand was on Lighting Bolt0

That ending is fucking beautiful0

Right off the back, I thought David Byrne/Talking Heads
It’s catchy... I’d like for it to stay in my head for a long time.6/27/98 - East Troy, WI

Love it. New direction. No code shocked the fan base. This one will too. Hope there is a great flow to the album. The expectation is higher now!! Such a funky cool jam. Need more listens tho obviously0

ForceofNature101 said:Loving it! Based on that initial listen, loving the Prince-esque funky guitar, lyrical melodies from Ed, and the general groove and vibe which is a totally 80s sound and different for PJ. Interested to see where the whole album takes usEH14457 said:DotC might be my favorite song since Riot Act, and I'm only partway through the second listen. LOVE the Talking Heads influence. LOVE the band branching out into something new (for them). LOVE the production. I dig it so hard. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album. Really hyped after the first track."The world is full of idiots and I am but one of them."

Not sure what to think after first listen. Kinda liked it, definitely nothing we ever heard from them0
-
Looks like some of you never bothered to listen to the bands Ed wears t-shirts of. I'll take anything fresh over rehashed riffs all day every day.0

Had me in mind of The Man by the Killers throughout the entire song.Milwaukee -- 07-08-1995 -- Salt Lake City - 1996 (Brad)-- Kansas City 07-03-1998-- Maryland Heights 07-02-1998-- Minneapolis 06-30-1998-- Alpine Valley 1999 - Tibet Freedom Concert (Eddie Solo)-- Kansas City 10-12-2000-- East Troy 10-08-2000-- Chicago 06-18-2003-- Council Bluffs 06-13-2003-- Bonner Springs 06-12-2003-- St. Paul 06-26-2006-- Milwaukee 06-30-2006-- Chicago 08-24-2009-- Kansas City 05-03-2010-- East Troy 09-03-2011-- East Troy 09-04-2011-- Chicago 07-19-2013-- Lincoln 10-9-2014 -- Moline 10-17-2014 -- Chicago 08-20-2016 -- Chicago 08-22-20160

Reminds me of the shift that Queens of the Stone Age went through heading into Like Clockwork and Villains. They were different, retro in some ways, new age in others, but still 100% QOTSA. This song and album will be the same, even if it's a new direction.
something to remember me by

Sounds like Arctic Monkeys. Def not much of the classic PJ sound.0
-
Thumbs up.Agree with everyone on the Bowie/Talking Heads influence. I hear some Killers in there as well.0
-
Eddie confuses me Around the “positive? Positive! POSITIVE!!” and they for sure could have found a better line than “out of this world.” Maybe we will get the meaning of that line somewhere down the road though0

You Are, with all it's funkiness, is one of my fav songs by PJ though, so I'm already predisposed to dig itsomething to remember me by

Definitely has a new sound-I like it though! Has a Killers feel to it...0
-
Well, since I've always loved THs, I'm a fan of this, but I agree, very different.
Burn your assumptions! Love is friction!my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf0 -
How are they going to transition from this to Porch in concert?!0

Liked the music more than Ed’s vocals. The dad growl in the beginning was, meh. Thought I heard a line about boys take pills for their dicks lol. I dig it too...was in need of anything refreshing after Can’t Deny Me, Ole, etc..I like Lightning Bolt, but it feels relatively safe in retrospect
Was hoping it would get harder towards end, but I guess it’s kind of cool that it doesn’t.
of things I’ve been listening to lately, I feel like it has a Wolf Parade vibe.
