So does this mean Smackdown is the main show and not RAW?

definitely. Smackdown's ratings were pretty great (almost $4 million) and they had Brock winning the belt. Also have Roman Reigns and guessing soon "The Man" Becky Lynch when the draft happens.

I thought it was pretty awesome. Guess I’ll never be a cool wrestling fan.

Shouldn't have booked The Fiend in a title match so soon. At least not the heavyweight title.

Why? He’s so over they might as well jump on it. Neither way would make iwc happy.

Yea. But then give him the belt. You know how fans are these days?

I didn't notice CM Punk anywhere in that ad for SmackDown, did I miss something? I saw what his agent said about him and WWE recently actually.
only thing i can think of is maybe he mistook someone for CM punk?
I did. very quick shot of some dude that kind of looked like him. I paused it and it's definitely not him. (not having watched rasslin for many years, I don't know who this guy is)

Would’ve got pops last night, but as soon as it’s over, it turns to “gave him the strap too soon” like a flip of a switch.

These mysterious, weirdo characters always do better when it seems like they’re a little on the fringe and in a few months when they want to take the belt from, he doesn’t look weak. So many crying about a dq in a HiAC match, but I think the match was incredible and made Wyatt seem all the more menacing. Maybe a no contest would’ve been better, but giving the belt to him would’ve been a colossal mistake depending on how they planned on booking his title loss.

I don't know why because WWE Network is awesome. I thank God it didn't exist when I was a kid or I might have never left the house. But now, I like to stop by now and then for a documentary or something. Watched some really fun behind-the-scenes docs on the first two Hell in the Cell matches (UT/HBK, UT/Mankind) the other day.

Now if that's trending because people are upset with last night's PPV, I didn't see it but hell, for $9.99 a PPV, you can't beat that. I used to have to do mad chores around the house to earn my parents buying PPVs back in the day.

Sounds like lazy writing.  Very lame to just drop a random DQ at the end of a PPV event, in a match that doesnt have DQs.

I saw someone wrote on twitter I think that this reeks of a PPV ending during the NWO era of WCW.

Aside from the stupid ending it was a pretty decent PPV.  Although the same thing happened in the main event last year between Reigns and Strowman, ended in a no contest.

That was a fucking awesome match, I don’t see 2 ways around it besides yet another hissy fit from the iwc. Freaking douchebags were booing during the match when Rollins was raining curb stomps and they thought it might go his way. It’s seriously pathetic. People focusing on the dq finish, but having WYATT lay waste to Rollins and ditch the scene or having Rollins run off scared after Wyatt no sells the sledge hammer, whatever, I don’t think it’s a must to put the title on Wyatt and it would sorta humanize the character which would be a huge no no at this point.

I mean, when it works, like with Bryan’s first title push it can be magic, but this just seems lame as hell after the weekend they put on.

Yea the match was good and I didn't mind the outcome. But it's not like when Hogan was champion and you wanted and expected him to win. Now fans like the bad guy or anti-hero. People cheered when Becky turned on Charlotte. After she beat Sasha they looked upset that Sasha lost.

  • That Young Bucks/Private Party tag team match that just opened AEW was one of the greatest matches I've seen in years. Amazing. Private Party might have just made the greatest first impression on national TV since the Beatles on Ed Sullivan! lol Just fantastic.

Good promo by Jericho. But I hated the closeups of Ortiz.

great match and i'm kidna surprised Private Party won. Yeah Ortiz and that headshake/tongue thing was disturbing.

  • out of nowhere.
  • I have tried to understand this modern way of wrestling and am confused as hell.

There was a "draft" the other day and the stars go on that show?

There is Raw and Smackdown which I thought were two separate things or aren't they?

Do the wrestlers now only go to that show and no other areas?  This sounds silly to me...

Is there a Champ belt for each of the shows since the wrestlers seem attached only to that now?

So there is 5 HWC belts instead of 1?  Is it becoming boxing?

Help out an old wrestling fan whom is absolutely lost as to what is going on now.
  • I'll try to tackle some of this....

There was a "draft" the other day and the stars go on that show?
Essentially yes, and it was pretty ridiculous. Fox owns one show. USA the other. So stars are "exclusive" to that show.
Some crossover at pay-per-views and maybe for some titles (woman's tag belts are one I believe)

There is Raw and Smackdown which I thought were two separate things or aren't they?
They are. You can add NXT as well. (AEW too if you want). All different shows with "exclusive" talent.

Do the wrestlers now only go to that show and no other areas?  This sounds silly to me...
They are assigned to their specific show, but travel pretty extensively. When people get bored, they'll have another "draft" probably.

Is there a Champ belt for each of the shows since the wrestlers seem attached only to that now?
Yes. Raw has the Universal Champion -  Smackdown has the WWE Championship. Etc. Lots of titles.
This link is easier than me typing.  https://www.wwe.com/titlehistory/wwe-championship

So there is 5 HWC belts instead of 1?  Is it becoming boxing?
Not quite...but there are a lot of belts...just got to generate that interest....see also the 24/7 title.
But there are a lot of MMA people showing up, and Tyson Fury too I guess.

My brief two cents. Feel free to add or correct folks.

AEW is not connected to the WWE. NXT is or at least was considered the minors of WWE
